McGraw-Hill Connect - One of the Better LMS Integrations
Comments: MH-Connect, by far, provides the best customer service from my experience.
Pros:
McGraw-Hill Connect (or MHConnect) provides one of the best LTI integrations with Canvas, our institution's LMS. The MHConnect interfaces allows you to create assignments, quizzes, and exams and then sync them with Canvas. When students participate in these activities, they do so through the MHConnect interface, and then their scores are passed back to the Canvas grade book. We have multiple publisher integrations in our instance of Canvas. McGraw-Hill Connect continuously provides the most stable connection with little need for support. But when we do need support, we're able to resolve things very quickly with an actual person over the phone.
Cons:
The interface for MHConnect could use a major refresh that includes enhancing the intuitiveness of performing key functions. For example, after creating assignments, quizzes, and exams, it's not immediately apparent that the instructor needs to then deploy those items to Canvas. It's frequently assumed that because their Canvas course is already linked to their MHConnect course, anything created will be automatically synced with Canvas. Also, changing certain settings for a course in MHConnect needs to be better communicated to the instructor.

Want the best Medical Office - Billing and Coding software - for College students? Look no further..
Comments: I am moving as many courses and resource materials to MMGH so I can use Connect in as many classes as possible. I believe all my SP21 courses are set up with MMGH and will be using Connect. They also have a medical office simulation (game) that students can mimic the exact duties and responsibilities they will be doing in the Medical Office in this software and can get grading information on their work and progress. :)
Pros:
Textbook, Assignments from the textbook, Workbook, Workbook assignments from the workbook are in this software. No need to purchase a printed book and wait to get it. Everything coincides with the text and/or workbook you use from McGraw-Hill. All Instructor resources are right at hand. I can add, change, delete, hide, upload, download almost anything out of or in to Connect.
Cons:
Getting started process for Instructors. Getting the students, especially the ones that are new to the Medical Office environment, up and running in the first class time. Did not work the first two semesters I used Connect but since then is not so bad. Just big learning curve already and then add having to try and help the students get started was overwhelming.
Universities Beware. Predatory sales.
Comments: Describe your overall experience with McGraw-Hill Connect - A nightmare.
Pros:
The only pro for this software that I can think of is that the website looks professional.
Cons:
Refer to descriptions in my ratings. Exponentially more cons than pros.
Alternatives Considered:
Good, but not great
Comments: I like this software a lot. My class uses it 2-3 times a week. There was recently a hiccup that wiped out all of my previous plans, so I'm having to sort through ALL the things again. It's really a pain. They make it easy for kids to log-in via a computer or tablet browser using "simplified log-in". It would be better if they could also use the app with simplified log-in, but as it stands, it's either app w/ complicated log in, or tablet browser with easy log-in. I hear the app is buggy, but I don't really use that because it's easier for first graders to use simplified log-in.
Pros:
I love the options & diversity of materials included in this software - games, review, lessons, etc. I love that parents/students can access these at home and use them as review.
Cons:
Deleting things on your planner is the biggest pain - it's all right click here and confirm there. I love all the materials, but there's got to be an easier way to get rid of lessons/activities that you don't want. Also, I really dislike that so many of the activities have almost the same name, even if they're different activities.
Creative Approach for Learning
Comments: McGraw-Hill has a constant assistance in making the reliable training to business subscribers.
Pros:
McGraw-Hill helps in managing all the learning, which increases the skills for users.
Cons:
McGraw-Hill has a diverse training option, and this faces no challenges.
Test Bank Nightmare
Comments: It's made me consider my preference between it and the other side of a 12 gauge slug.
Pros:
I dislike McGraw-Hill connect very much. It tests on reading comprehension and endurance more so than actual content.
Cons:
The smart book assignments have a limited amount of concepts covered. Instead of application of class concepts, it is more a test of reading comprehension, and attention span. I do not feel that these need to be a long, and could stand to be more varied. It would be appreciated if the concepts matched up to the quizzes. The homework is much less busy, and multiple attempts have helped me consolidate the correct way to approach certain problems. Again, it suffers from narrow focus on conceptual spread when compared with quizzes.
Expensive and Keeping Students from paying bills
Comments: I hate McGraw-Hill. They are greedy, and their site needs some major updates. Would not use it for your school.
Pros:
Nothing. Why does higher ed book producers feel the need to capitalize on others? Because they don't care about those using their materials.
Cons:
Everything. It is outragously expensive and you only get the product for a year at a time. After the year runs out you have to repurchase.
A website created just for profits
Comments: My overall experience is alright however, I won't take a course again if the professor will be using this application in their course.
Pros:
I like that my homework is easily accessible.
Cons:
The worst part of this whole site is that when you get something wrong, there is no guide or tips telling me what I should do to fix my answers. There is no videos or attachments that I could watch to help me complete assignments. McGraw-Hill is worth billions of dollars and does not have the student in mind when creating around a curriculum. If you type in "McGraw-Hill Connect review" into the search bar and scroll down you will see Reddit posts from many other people saying how awful the website is. So I don't want you to think it is just me saying this. Instead of writing a review in Reddit, I thought I could go straight to the source and let you know that change needs to happen for the long term success of the students taking these courses. McGraw-Hill Connect is already successful, so please help the students be successful too! Thank you so much.

McGraw-Hill Connect - Enhancing the Learning Experience
Comments: My overall experience with McGraw-Hill Connect has been positive. I no longer have to input grades in two different places.
Pros:
One of the standout features of McGraw-Hill Connect is its ability to provide a wide range of course materials in the platform.
Cons:
Some aspects of the product can be challenging to use initially. The interface may require some getting use to when link to the lms.
Great Resources in education
Comments: I only used the Math resources but I used them as both student and teacher.
Pros:
I like the quality and amount of resources
Cons:
I have no negatives to report while using these products
Resourceful
Pros:
Great sources for more student interactions
Cons:
So many options to choose from overwhelming at times
Not inclusive or accommodating
Comments: Customer service employees are not stationed in the United States and have never used the program themselves. Tech support was unable to help with my issues because they just follow a script. You're unable to cut and paste from the text. The reader only works part of the time and always starts back at the beginning of the page if you have to pause. Times out frequently and does not save the place in reading. I can't use external extensions during the program like Read&Write or pull it up in two separate pages. I'm having to purchase a separate copy of the book and since none of my disabilities accomodations work with this program, I'll need to spend twice the time as other students finishing assignments. It's really really awful and should be banned in the United states.
Pros:
So far nothing it sucks completely there's nothing good I have to say
Cons:
This program makes it nearly impossible for students with learning disabilities to pass a class.
Great
Pros:
A good way to study was to complete assignments and connect helped with understanding what I learned in class.
Cons:
The assignments were a lot. It requires a lot of time to complete
Impeccably horrible
Comments: Absolutely horrific.
Pros:
Absolutely nothing, this is by far the worst software I have used for a class in any of my years in school and I regret taking every class that I've had to take that used this. I will NEVER recommend this to anyone.
Cons:
Everything. There is nothing positive about this software.
Waste of student time, resources and money.
Comments: It takes me hours just to complete one assignment every time I use it. It wants approximate answers the way it was programmed with wanting only one route to the answer.
Pros:
Nothing this software sucks and no one should use it hence why I am writing this review
Cons:
Everything sucks about it and it is a big waste of time for students
Top notch study material
Pros:
This software is probably the best study material to use for a classroom setting. I’m able to have to etext on an app on my phone as well as being able to access it from my desktop. Another thing I liked is the explanations that were given for each problem rather than just the answers being given.
Cons:
One thing that could be improved is when you click to see the report of a completed assignment it would be simpler if it took you straight to that specific report but instead it takes you a list of all the reports and then you have to find the specific report you want.
Extra Practice for students
Comments: Student performance has gone up because they are able to access material and resources while not in the classroom. McGraw-Hill has a plethora of resources available for teachers and students for every subject offered.
Pros:
Teachers are able to customize quizzes and assignments to fit what is needed for their particular group of students and class. Students have study tools and interactive modules to help understand material more fluently. Teachers can view reports so they can alter their teaching style and approach.
Cons:
McGraw-Hill could use some updating to the appearance of the interface. It looks like it hasn't been changed. There is difficulty with connecting it as a third-party application. There is not a clear or simple way for students to communicate with their professor within McGraw-Hill. There needs to be better and more accessible versions such as for mobile devices to encourage use-on-the-go.
Good Digital Resource Platform - But Could Make A Lot Of Improvements
Comments: In a time where access to digital materials is a must-have, Connect does the job - but doesn't go above and beyond.
Pros:
As a teacher, I like that I can transform my classroom with the digital textbooks as resources available in Connect that accompany my print materials. Our school has setup automatic class rostering so it is great that I do not need to manage student user accounts or set up classrooms and add students. However, compared to some of its publisher competitors that I also utilize, it is way behind the curve in terms of function and UI.
Cons:
The user-interface within Connect (both from a teacher and student user) could use some major upgrades. It seems that very little resources are put into the system and/or they are not utilizing user feedback to improve the product.
Great Product
Comments: Overall I recommend this product to anyone else in higher education. Its definitely a staple in higher education.
Pros:
As someone who uses this software throughout the week religiously I can say that I've never had any complains. You know you've worked in higher education for too long when just by looking at the logo brings back memories of late nights and coffee.
Cons:
The price of this product continues to rise, but would still recommend to anyone considering using it.
Exceptional Software
Comments: The overall experience that I have with this software is completely positive and what is most important is the fact that we are able to teach our own children.
Pros:
My wife and I have been using McGraw Hill Connect for our 5th and 6th grader for a few years and this software is outstanding. You can actually teach your children one on one and teach them exactly the way that the educators would do it in school. We use the student edition and the teachers edition and I can truly say, it is very very exceptional, like their grades. It was referred to us by a school administrator when my wife was working in the school, and now I send all my friends and family to their website to at least do a trial period, even for their college aged children. You cannot go wrong with this software.
Cons:
The only thing that I do not like about this software, is the fact that I did not find out about it sooner. I can only imagine the kind of tools and resources that they have for Pre-K and K children.
Decent tool for class assignments/management
Comments: McGraw-Hill Connect is very good for business classes and classes that use numerical data, but not so much for foreign language classes.
Pros:
I used this when I was taking business classes. The format of how the homework questions are laid out in most classes is easy to follow. I also love how you can get hints or you can click the "book" link and it will take you right to the section of the book that the question pertains to.
Cons:
The language courses on Connect are not very well-formatted. They will not give you any points if you make a typo which doesn't seem like a very good system. Also, it costs a lot of money, at $110+ per course (which lasts about 4-6 months).
Makes Learning Easiesr
Comments: Overall this software is great. Our K-6 teachers use it for math and reading daily. It helps with assignment completion since students have access at home.
Pros:
Connect is a great supplemental tool for the classroom, and is a great place for e-learning. It is available for a variety of classes, and offers differentiated activities and practice. It is available to students at school and home, so they always have access to the needed material.
Cons:
It can be a bit difficult to located exactly what you want, as there are many resources and the setup is not as organized as I'd like. We also occasionally have issues with popups not working on Chromebooks.
Great software at a good price
Comments: Amazing experience, never had any issues where I needed additional support, everything is simply put for registration
Pros:
Easily able to see what caused incorrect answer and fix errors, searching through textbook is seamless, read aloud options available, love the free trial for students waiting for financial aid
Cons:
Price is high, so being a student it hurts but I understand why
Perfect for Science Majors
Comments: Even though it was mandatory for some of my courses I never had an issue with MH Connect
Pros:
The format of pairing the reading with targeted questions will help you absorb the material better than most other systems
Cons:
It is impossible to fail the practice sections, so you can brute force your way through it if you want to
Real Time Hybrid or Virtual Courses
Pros:
Lessons come alive and content takes on different shapes and forms. McGraw-Hill offers a rich directory and database of information ranging from audio files to quizzes, PowerPoint lectures and so much more. It is a gem for any Humanities-based courses, such as Speech. The components provide a rich array of opportunities for classwork and team activities. Resourceful and practical!
Cons:
No cons to report to date. The platform is relatively easy to adapt and integrate. I have been incorporating this valuable resource into my classes for years to the delight of my students.
