Streamlined HR Management with Minor Setup Challenges
Comments: My overall experience with Employment Hero has been very positive. The platform is user-friendly and makes managing HR tasks much more efficient, from payroll to employee management. I especially appreciate the self-service features, which empower employees to manage their own information and requests. The compliance tools are another plus, helping us stay on top of regulations. The only challenge we faced was the setup of our complex Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), which took a bit longer than anticipated. However, once it was properly configured, the system has performed smoothly and reliably. Overall, Employment Hero has streamlined our processes and saved us time.
Pros:
What I liked most about Employment Hero is how it simplifies HR & Payroll processes while offering a user-friendly platform. It integrates everything from payroll to employee management in one place, which makes it easy to handle everyday tasks efficiently. The self-service portal for employees is a great feature too—it empowers staff to manage their own information and leave requests without having to go through HR every time. Additionally, the compliance tools give peace of mind, ensuring we stay up to date with legislation. Overall, it's a comprehensive system that streamlines workflows and saves time
Cons:
The only downside I've experienced with Employment Hero is that setting up our complex Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) took longer than expected. Due to the intricacies of our specific agreement, the setup process required more time and effort to ensure everything was accurate. However, once configured, the system has run smoothly. This would likely be less of an issue for businesses with simpler agreements.

It's great that new employees can load their details in directly to HR and then it will import to Payroll. Saves manual error.

I am finding the reports difficult as they are very different to my old system I used.

Great system, but woeful support, they don't want you to get in touch with them when you need help.
Very poor documentation of system which causes frustration and a lot of time wasting chasing answers that don't come easily

Easy to navigate with all you need from an HR/Payroll Platform
Comments: My overall experience with Employment Hero has been good. I’ve been using Employment Hero since 2016, right from their very beginning, and it’s been amazing to see how much they’ve improved over the years. It’s clear that they take customer feedback seriously, which is why I believe it’s so important to keep sharing our experiences. After a five-year break in my career, I returned to work in Australia and switched from another HR system over to Employment Hero and I can see that they have some new features even some of the issues we were facing 5 years ago still there. But overall it's a great system and the customer support normally is immediate and very helpful.
Pros:
Easy to navigate and integrates everything we need.
Cons:
That's there's a lot of settings in both HR and Payroll and sometimes it gets confusing. Also my employees have access to both because in order to use rosters they need access to Payroll and sometimes they are entering timesheets in both systems and overlapping, etc.

Better than your run-of-the-mill HRIS
Comments: Overall, as per the the title, EH is comparatively better than other standard HRIS and less clunky. I have used a few other CRMs and HRIS' over the last 8 years and EH has been my favourite. While of course nothing is perfect, EH is also very customer/client-focused and open to feedback, in which I have seen features be changed and updated over the past 7 months since using this HRIS.
Pros:
The absolute ease in using the interface. Everything is clearly labelled and even if you land on the wrong page, it is super easy to figure out where to go. But what I truly liked most is having pre-made templates (HR Documents and Policies for AU and NZ) especially as I work across both countries. Not having to reinvent the wheel was incredibly helpful, but they also allow us the freedom to clone and tweak to tailor it for our business.
Cons:
Some features I wish had more flexibility, for example, having a track record/history for hours of work (to see a staff's work hour pattern across their tenure), however I have been informed that this may be updated early next year which is fantastic. The cons I have are not dealbreakers, but they're centred around just overall more flexibility with formatting (ability to right click on any hyperlinks or buttons) and improving the document template customisation tool.

rising up to the challenge
Comments: i had issues when setting up account and their support staff was awesome. went above and beyond to help me so ive no doubt in the future, they will be a great fit for me and my new company!
Pros:
manage employees, new hires, payroll, its a all in one mogule. great customer support. i had to get assistance setting up my account, and they are on point. answered my questions, then some, and sweet people! great service which is hard to find for the money

Stay away from Employment hero
Pros:
Nothing, its another version of quick books but you pay more
Cons:
overpriced software for a quick book replica. Very bad customer service who did not even call me but closed the ticket. This happened twice and any questions asked they refer to videos. Negative, There is one small demo of the product. There is no trial period to check the product. There is a one year contract and you cannot leave once you sign up. There is no negotiations with the Employment Hero team since they dont respond

Comments: Overall, the platform has decreased the amount of time we were spending on the HR & Payroll function, our biggest win was the automation of the onboarding process.We are still struggling (nearly 18 months down the track) with some of the Rule Sets in the payroll function that do not work how they need to - we are manually adjusting some payslips every week.The support team are not very supportive in the first instance. We have been left high and dry and missed the bank cutoff on our pay day on several occasions because of their lack of response - which has meant that 150+ people got paid a day late - not ideal. Once you actually get in contact with a support person, they are generally quite helpful, however, I am still waiting on a response to a support ticket that was placed over 4 months ago - seems its too hard, so they are just ignoring me. Even the Customer Success Manager has not followed it up.New features are rolled out without proper testing - for instance, the paid break feature. It seems that they are intent on creating new features that are not crucial to our business and leaving the core functionality behind.Should have gone with Elmo.

The automation - onboarding, leave requests, timesheets, payroll.The app - mobile HR on the go.
Cons:
The implementation phase - we completed as many checks as we could, but as a manufacturing business that has hourly paid & salaried staff, with multiple shifts across 2 sites & a specific Enterprise Agreement, we could not identify every single scenario, so after we rolled it out, there we unforeseen issues that we were just left to deal with. Once the implementation team completed the implementation to their satisfaction, they wiped their hands of us and handed us over to the support team, who never answer the phone and take their time to respond to your queries.The system is not flexible - there are several feature requests that we have put through because it just doesn't work as we need it to. The reporting needs to be better - the graphs are pretty, but I would like to be able to download the data behind them - some reports you can, some you can't. The goals module may work for professional services businesses, but not for manufacturing.The payroll platform reporting also needs to be more flexible - you can only create custom reports on certain things. We need to slice & dice information and the only way to do that is to manipulate it in Excel.The integration of the HR & Payroll platforms. Leave requests & expense reimbursements do not integrate from HR to Payroll. Neither do terminated employees integrate from Payroll to HR - if you terminate someone in Payroll, you have to replicate it in HR, so double-handling.That stupid app SWAG - should never have changed it.

The no-brainer HR & Payroll option
Comments: Employment Hero is a paperless systems which is great for where our business is heading. It has both a HR and Payroll platform that integrate with each and it quite reasonably priced for the size of our business. For a business that is has never had a great HR system, this ticks all the boxes. Still learning the system being only 6 months in, but keep surprising myself with what I find and can do. I love how it is so modern compared to our old system and what's even better it works with the awards so I sure never to miss a beat with compliance again!
Pros:
What I love most about employment hero is the flexibility as the payroll admin to change the platforms to suit our business requirements. The feel and look is modern and both HR & Payroll work together. The most handy point though is the fact it can be set up on the award and another plus is also the paperless HR system which is so more time efficient and has a better track record. And we can't forget the app that work seamlessly with the platforms - this has definitely change my HR role for the better.
Cons:
Sometimes it can be hard to navigate, but I can put this down to just still in training. I can obviously reach out to support, but this is only through a ticketing system, which sometimes all you want is to pick up the phone and speak to somebody - maybe there is this option, I am not sure yet. Also the currently there are two apps operating, if this was all on the one app, I wouldn't ever not recommend employment hero - it would be the only HR & Payroll option that's for sure.

Great on paper but lacking smooth functionality
Comments: Relatively good, great concept, aesthetic user interface, clunky functions here and there, setup support for payroll is not helpful.
Pros:
One place to store everything HR, keeps everything quick for onboarding and saves time and resources
Cons:
Setup was painfully long with minimal help especially with payroll. To the point i had to explain things wrong within the system and explain how to fix it. New employees are not forced to complete there induction and policy content to be considered onboarded and can start the job and not have done anything.

Comments: Cannot say enough good things about it. A self-service solution for the entire employee lifecycle.
Pros:
- Automated streamlined onboarding- Benefits and rewards are built-in- Communications options to get out quick messages out to teams- Everything is connected!
Cons:
Better access management to features and employee files - security setting and default position on some features can be frustrating.It generates a lot of emails for administrators as employees work through the onboarding process - updates on bank details, updates on super, updates on tax info. You need to know all of it when people change their details, this should be fine-tuned for onboarding

Pros:
Everything we need in regards to HR is in the one place.
Cons:
We can't alter some of the sections to suit our business needs - such as adding a field for job numbers when submitting an incident report.

Comments: We have had a really positive experience. For a well priced, off the shelf package it is very good. Service is not always available immediately but is always helpful and friendly. The experience continues to get better as the product constantly improves.
Pros:
Great off the shelf product for managing a small to medium size business. There is enough customisation to add the features we need and all of the basic HR functions are available. The service is great (may need to wait for a reply but very helpful and friendly).
Cons:
The Certification function is not yet perfect but I'm sure this will evolve with time. Employment Hero continue to develop and enhance the product.

I love Recruitment, leave, Dashboard and reports function.
Cons:
After the leave request is approved in HR system, it should automatically apply to the timesheets in payroll. Please enable this feature, it will solve many of our issues.

A great paperless system
Comments: Excellent
Pros:
South West Community Transport have been using Employment Hero for 6 months now and it has improved our H.R. immensly. We are now nearly paperless with all our document controls, contracts, training, Performance reviews and procedures. Employment hero makes it very easy for staff to access their personal files at anytime of the day or night from any location and allows management to deliver compulsory reading, updates and most other things electronically. The system is great, economical and we are not even using it to its full potential yet. I strongly recommend Employment hero as an electronic alternative to a paper based H.R. system
Cons:
We could use more flexability to change things within the contracts and also to have the ability to advertise casual roles.

New Zealand Employer with not standard employee working schedules
Pros:
Pretty easy to use and some real good functionality, reporting pretty good, and thought splits between cost centers for leave pay was good.
Cons:
It does not deal well with non standard employment/employees that don't work standard work weeks/works standard hours in terms of how it calculates certain leave rates and how it processes certain leave when taken, this is purely because the system doesn't look at actual days worked or actual hours worked, but only refers to work schedules setup in the system. Second to that we paid for implementation only to realise certain pay categories were not setup correctly and did not accrue leave, it has now been almost 6 week with no real solution to this problem. Support is pretty slow.

Comments: The on boarding off staff has become so much easier compared to manually entering forms and employee information in the system. We also utilise the payroll feature and the payroll team we work with are brilliant too. A lot easier to collate items such as policies, collect employee documents and track their document expiry dates for compliance purposes much easier. Also much easier to track probation periods with the reminders.
Pros:
I like it’s easy to use, the HeroShop (now My Benefits -> Discounts) is brilliant and adds a benefit for employees, issuing employee documents and on boarding them is very simple and saves us so much time otherwise spent on manual on boarding. Leave management, timesheet management very simple and straightforward. Reporting features is great too, to find out staff insights such as headcount numbers etc. Any queries I have or issues with the system the support team is very helpful too!
Cons:
Occasionally when I email employment contracts to staff they have difficulty with finding this email in their junk mail / spam / inbox. Some are not able to find this at all. I usually have to then send the contract manually. There’s no way to resend the contract once it has sent, so perhaps a feature such as send a staff member a reminder email to sign their contract could be beneficial. Some staff have trouble uploading their certifications, perhaps by incorrectly dating or using the wrong document format (e.g. Not PDF). I think having more features on the phone app too would be great because majority of staff use employment hero on their phones only because it’s quicker and more convenient. For First or secondary managers, if they can lodge leave on behalf of their staff via the mobile app, I think that’d be a brilliant addition to the phone app.

Love the platform, makes on boarding new employees a breeze.
Comments: Time - This software has saved my sanity in on boarding new employees and now we have over 100 staff its great that they can update their details themselves.
Pros:
Ease of use, great on boarding tool, cuts the contract time down considerably, Great task list features, good reporting functions as you can customize easily. Collates all the employee information meaning accounts aren't left to chase down these items from employees. The employees love the platform too as it has all their information for them in one place and they all love the Annual Leave function
Cons:
I would like to be able to assign certain sections to other employees - for example it would be good if the accounts staff could view "Employee Bank Details" without having access to any other information I would also like to be able to amend and upload (or delete) our own contracts rather than having to go through the support team every time - Support are great if I am not in a rush as it normally take 24-48 Hours to turn around, but if I just need to alter something quickly it would be nice to add and remove myself
