Reviews of QuickBooks Online
100% Satisfied with QuickBooks
Comments: best experience with QuickBooks easy to use and easily maintain invoices, totally satisfied. Thanks QuickBooks
Pros:
Best and reliable for to manage the ERP System and create invoice.
Cons:
Nothing to dislike everything is perfect if you see from users perspective.
If you are an attorney, just go with Clio Accounting; Quickbooks might be longer in business, but Clio was made for lawyers
Comments: Why is QB becoming so expensive? I originally chose QB because of loyalty to Intuit. I tried for a while but trying to get my finances in order after so long of commingling my business and personal accounts became too much. When I decided to try it again recently, now I am far priced out as a small business and as far as I know, the services are the same. I found the price hike highly disappointing. It was a good time to find out Clio began offering accounting for attorneys
Pros:
I liked that it integrates with Clio as well as the other intuit product line; the interface is fairly navigable, but i am unsure the pros outweigh certain drawbacks
Cons:
QB was fine, a bit hard to understand for a non-accountant; but I guess that could be because i never made use of their expert help and insisted on onboarding myself totally manually as a new businessperson
Alternatives Considered: Quicken
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: integration with Clio; although I dont recall that integration ever serving my needs
Not as intuitive or user friendly as I'd hoped
Comments: If I had a chance to consider other accounting options for my business, I would absolutely look into them. I've found Quickbooks to be marketed as an easy to use tool for small business, but the reality there's way more technical knowledge that isn't particularly clear how to use, and I would imagine most people will run into things they aren't sure how to solve, and thus Quickbooks is trying to make more money on the back end by charging for help to use their tool.
Pros:
I like that in theory, it's set up for relatively easy access as a small business with an affordable price for the basic package, I like the interface, but it is quite a bit more complex than I'd first thought.
Cons:
Quickbooks has so many things built-in that aren't clear how to use for a small business owner without lots of experience with the platform or accounting. There are features that are excluded in the basic package which seem like unreasonable limitations. Making revisions within Quickbooks to invoices/payments in the past without having it impact your account reconciliation is not clear and can be quite frustrating. The fact that Quickbooks charges for assistance for things like that is silly - the product isn't intuitive or clear enough to not provide free customer support. The reality is that it's not user friendly enough to stumble through without help, so I've had to work with my CPA/business consultant to solve certain issues which is equally frustrating.
Easy Accounting with QuickBooks Online
Comments: Fantastic. We love how easy it is to set up. The integrations with our bank and credit card company are seamless. We also like how easy navigation is.
Pros:
It was easy to setup. We transferred data from an old accounting system easily.
Cons:
At times QuickBooks will change the look of the reports, invoice templates, and bill templates.
Alternatives Considered: NetSuite and Xero
Reasons for Choosing QuickBooks Online: QuickBooks Online is used by a large number of small companies like us. It has a great user community where we can find answers quickly.
Switched From: Xero
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Xero is not used by as many users as QuickBooks Online. NetSuite is too complicated to set up for our use.
Great Accounting Software for Entrepreneurs
Comments: Very easy to use and setup even for a novice, non-finance person.
Pros:
Love the easy to use interface and integrations with all of the financial institutions I use. Also makes payroll and paying business taxes a breeze by not just tracking these amount but also paying directly from QBO.
Cons:
Cash flow projects are terrible. A key feature that is missing, that would be great to have, would be to track upcoming monthly bills and expenses to see the impact future bills will have on cash position. I currently have to track this separately outside of QBO.
Alternatives Considered: Zero
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Familiar with the brand having used Intuit products for tax preparation in the past. Pricing was reasonable and didn't seem to be missing any critical features.
The leader for a reason.
Comments: Overall impressed I have used with many clients and always recommend a new client to start off with the product. Easily integrated into many programs and fits businesses from small to enterprise level is a huge bonus.
Pros:
There are so many amazing and useful features of Quickbooks. Personally the ease of making company reports, keeping track of all expenses in the business.
Cons:
I dislike the changes, sometimes they are for the better but you become accustomed to a certain way of doing things and then it is altered. However overall it is a great product.
Alternatives Considered: Xero
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: More support systems, adopted by more companies and easier integrations.
Quickbooks Online for Small Business Accounting
Comments: QBO online is my preferred software for accounting for small businesses. I prefer QBO to any other software I have used.
Pros:
QBO is easy to use and understand for clients even if they are not accountants. They can see their bookkeeping at any time with QBO.
Cons:
Sometimes there is a learning curve for clients. I wish there was a way to create a simpler dashboard for them.
Alternatives Considered: Xero and Microsoft Excel
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: QBO is far easier to work with in my opinion. Excel does not have automatic integrations and I find Xero to be less intuitive.
Mostly positive, not perfect
Comments: Overall positive; it has all the functionality and tools youd want/need. Project tracking and its integration with financial statements could be streamlined (like you have to allocate payroll time to projects before runing payroll for it to allocate on the financials correctly and that information is buried to find). Wouldnt recommend payroll services, but as an accounting and data management system QBO is great. The ability to easily addd team members and accountants is great.
Pros:
Ease of sharing and integration; bank feeds are good when they work
Cons:
Customer support is questionable and relies on canned responses to most things that are google-able by the user and have already been attempted. PNC is a major bank and the bank feed connections with it suck. If you can even get it connected they frequently get disconnected. I understand its pnc's structure and security but theyre a major bank and it should be smoother. Also the payroll options are horrendous and if anything goes awry goodluck trying to get it fixed since most things are locked and not viewable or manually fixable and require support who barely know what theyre doing (especially a problem for Ohio and PA local taxes)
Alternatives Considered: QuickBooks Desktop
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Functionality/connectivity with other apps and banks
Horrendous Program
Comments: QuickBooks Online is horrendous. The system is slow to do anything, it seems every task takes longer than QuickBooks Desktop. It takes days to process payments; keep being told a "glitch" that flags EVERY payment as suspicious. Clients are getting angry it takes so long to process payments. The system cannot handle the size of the payments going through; although only a few clients pay by credit card, the ones that do is disastrous. We will be canceling the payments add-on. I am trying to get ALL my clients off QuickBooks online and to go to a different program.
Pros:
The only positive it is not ties to one computer and can be accessed anywhere
Cons:
The system takes too many steps to do a task, it does not receive payments effectively from clients. The customer service is absolutely useless and does not care about anything.
Alternatives Considered: Sage 300cloud
Reasons for Choosing QuickBooks Online: thought it would be easier - it is not. We are talking about going to a different program
Switched From: QuickBooks Desktop
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: thought it would be an easier transfer of data
QBO is the way to go
Comments: Amazing! Easy to use. I love the training options as well
Pros:
Well the fact that it is online is amazing! We have admins that use Mac and we have some that use windows and with QBO it integrates easily with all.
Cons:
It seems to flow seamlessly and the only time I’ve had issues it would be on the connection side not QBO
Alternatives Considered: Paycor
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Paycor was expensive and is not as user friendly as we needed.
QBO, Why? Because I had to.
Comments: QuickBooks online is easy to use. The auto shorting of my transactions to their vendors makes bookkeeping painless. There are a few times that I wish the system would not have done something for me but was easy to correct.
Pros:
Easy to access my books any where. If I am traveling, I can pull up information on my phone or my laptop. No need to have that .QBO file. I just need internet.
Cons:
Although I love the flexibility I have with QBO. I did not like that I really had no other option. I could not update my desktop version without paying for Enterprise(which I do not need). The only thing I could do was move to the cloud. I would have liked to choose for myself.
Alternatives Considered: Sage Accounting
Reasons for Choosing QuickBooks Online: I was told that I had no option but to switch.
Switched From: QuickBooks Desktop
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: It was the closest to the system that I was already comfortable with.
User friendly Quickbooks for Small Business
Comments: What really sets QuickBooks Online apart, is its array of video tutorials. Whenever I've hit a snag or needed a little extra guidance, the video tutorials have been a lifesaver. They're easy to follow, breaking down complex tasks into simple, step-by-step instructions. This feature has significantly reduced my troubleshooting time and helped me become more confident in using the software.
Pros:
I absolutely love Quickbooks for its user-friendly interface and extensive resources that make managing finances quick and easy along with a fantastic array of video tutorials
Cons:
I believe Quickbooks should create a few standard chart of account with sub categories to help new inexperience users get started in managing their accounts with ease.
If you have to update your payment, prepare to lose your entire account
Comments: Pitiful and frustrating, can't get anyone other that general technical support on the phone and they don't give a shit that I am locked out of our business account due to they own system failing with no safe guard in place to avoid it.
Pros:
Nothing at the moment, considering I have been booted from my account. If I could give 0 stars, I would.
Cons:
Had a credit card cancelled and tried updating QB to our new card, it would not accept a new card in their system, they promised it was on their end and they were working on it, nothing happened and they suspended my account and I no longer have access to it.
Once you learn it, it feels like home!
Comments: While it is has taken some time to learn to how to create and customize according to our needs, I now feel it quite simple to handle our accounting and reporting.
Pros:
Remote access to our books and allows me to provide access to my accountant and board treasurer. Reports are easy to produce. Entering and classifying transactions is simple now that I know the software.
Cons:
It would be great if the nonprofit version would default to the proper statement names such as Statement of Activities (for P/L) and Statement of Financial Position (for Balance Sheet).
Alternatives Considered: NetSuite
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Ease of use and the lack of desire to learn new software
QBO - Useful for Small Business
Comments: QBO is good, and I think that it's a great option for pretty much any small business. The price is very affordable and if you're willing to manage your books yourself it is well worth it.
Pros:
QBO is able to do everything that a business needs. Once you set it up right, everything becomes easy and quick. You can handle any part of accounting or bookkeeping using QBO just like the older QuickBooks desktop. The integration that it provides with other apps and banking, etc. is great.
Cons:
Well QuickBooks Online is definitely designed with smaller businesses in mind. The idea that Intuit seemed to be going for is that a business can have all they need for a monthly fee. The desktop version can be more expensive, but if you can pay, you will have all you need and could likely have it forever. Other than that, sometimes QBO is a little bit 'laggy', but nothing that should cause resentment!
Alternatives Considered: Wave
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: To be honest, I use both. However, for my smaller business I use Wave because it is free and can do MOST of what QBO can do.
Quickbooks in your pocket!
Comments: Our employees can easily utilize quickbooks online, with less effort in onboarding them, it's very easy to use and can be accessed anywhere on any device they have.
Pros:
We use quickbooks premier way back 2015-2019 and when our new company needed an accounting software on our business we tried quickbooks online and it works more conviniently than quickbooks desktop! Quickbooks is now in our pocket, in our phone and laptop anyware.
Cons:
I haven't encountered a bug but 1 of our employee is using an older phones and it messed up with what he sees, I think it's because it is a very old phone.
Efficient Financial Management with QuickBooks: A Solid 4-Star Choice
Comments: My overall experience with QuickBooks Online has been positive. It has helped me streamline my financial management processes and stay organized with my business finances. The software's user-friendly interface, comprehensive features, and real-time data accessibility have been valuable in tracking income and expenses, generating reports, and maintaining financial stability. While there were some drawbacks such as the cost and learning curve for advanced features, the benefits outweighed the challenges, making QuickBooks Online a valuable tool for managing my business finances efficiently.
Pros:
I liked the ease of use and intuitive interface of QuickBooks Online. It made it simple to manage my finances, track income and expenses, and generate reports quickly and accurately. The ability to customize reports and access real-time financial data were particularly impressive features that helped me stay on top of my business finances effectively.
Cons:
I found that the cost of the subscription could be a bit high for small businesses, especially when compared to some other accounting software options on the market. Additionally, while the basic features were user-friendly, some of the more advanced functions required a bit of a learning curve to fully utilize. It would be helpful to have more in-depth tutorials or training resources available to make navigating these features easier.
Alternatives Considered: Gusto
Reasons for Switching to QuickBooks Online: Initially, cost played a major factor in my decision.
Robusta Accounting Tool for SMEs: QBO
Pros:
QuickBooks Online makes accounting much easy by automating repetitive tasks such as accounts payable, receivable, general ledger and payment matching.
Cons:
QuickBooks Online is cloud based and lack capabilities for global enterprises until it is integrated with external applications.
Customer service has gone severely downhill with Quickbooks
Comments: Collaboration and customer service are nonexistent with this company. Nobody is on the same page. I talked to one person who told me to cancel my merchant account, which I'd been using for 4+ years, because they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. After over an hour on the phone this representative had me cancel my account and informed me that he would call me in 3 business days, once the cancelation could process, one Monday at 1:00pm and set up a new merchant account for me. Three days later a different Quickbooks rep called me to schedule an appointment to set up my merchant account. I informed her I already had an appointment with the gentleman I spoke with a few days ago, he knows what's going on with everything. She said she didn't know what I was referring to and so I set up an appointment for a couple of days later. Finally, I got a call to set up my merchant account so I can start invoicing like I have been for the last few years and accepting card payment through an emailed link. I am informed that because I am setting up a new account, I no longer get the same rates/fees as I had before because those were grandfathered in with my old account. So now, instead of my $15.00 cap on AHC transactions that I had had and been using for over 3 years, had been replaced with a 1% fee on all AHC transactions. I am a General Contractor and most of the invoices people pay are $10,000.00 or more which means now instead of paying $15.00 on that transaction I pay $100.00. The lady who set up my new merchant account, of course, has no idea why the original person I spoke with had me cancel the account in the first place but that there was nothing she could do to help me and nobody she could transfer me to would be able to help figure out why the person had me cancel my merchant account or help me reinstate my original fee structure. It's very suspicious how this all happened, and I will be looking for alternative Accounting software.
Pros:
Quickbooks has sufficed as a basic, constantly changing, discombobulated bookkeeper/invoicing platform.
Cons:
Nobody that can be gotten a hold of to resolve issues know what is going on with the company they work for or have the knowledge or power to do anything about it.
I have a great experience with QuickBooks
Comments: I’ve been using QuickBooks Online for my small business, and overall, it’s been a great experience. The software simplifies complex accounting tasks like invoicing, tracking expenses, and running payroll. I really appreciate how it automates many processes, saving me a lot of time. One of the features I like most is the cloud-based access—I can manage my finances from anywhere, which is a huge plus, especially when traveling or working remotely. The integration with other tools, like PayPal, has been seamless, which makes managing transactions easier. However, there is a bit of a learning curve, especially when it comes to navigating the more advanced features. It took me a while to fully utilize all the reports and data management options. That said, the customer support has been responsive and their help resources, like tutorials, are pretty helpful. The pricing is decent for what you get, but I find it can get expensive as you add users or features, such as payroll or inventory management.
Pros:
1.Easy invoicing and expense tracking 2.Cloud-based access for remote work 3.Integration with popular platforms like PayPal 4.Responsive customer support
Cons:
1.Steeper learning curve for advanced features 2.Can become pricey with add-ons
Works well but frustrating updates
Comments: Overall I don't mind it, and I get what I need from the system for invoicing and payments, as well as expense tracking. What I really do not like is the constant changes and updates without notice - especially when it affects the layout and I have to relearn how to use it.
Pros:
For the most part the system is simple to use, and it easily lets us send invoices and receive payments from our customers.
Cons:
I really dislike the constant aesthetic changes to the site, especially when there was no reason to make a change. For example, a more recent change was "updating to a more modern look" - but it completely changed the layout of our invoicing screen, making it much more difficult to navigate and make sure all the required items are put in correctly. Also, you don't have the option to change the layout back to a previous version - you're just stuck with the new one - which is so frustrating. It seems like as soon as you get used to one thing changing they make another change - without notice - and you have to learn the system all over again. In my work I truly don't have time to relearn how to use a system that should be easy to use. Very frustrating.
Business Management With QuickBooks Online
Comments: I am happy with QuickBooks Online because it makes running a business easy. I am able to view and pay bills along with send out invoices all through QuickBooks. I am able to run reports on open orders and helps me stay on top of things.
Pros:
The thing I liked most about QuickBooks Online was the ability to quick report an item and see past purchase orders, sales orders, bills and invoices.
Cons:
The thing I liked least about Quickbooks Online was the inability to search items through quotes. It makes it difficult to view how many times an item has been quoted.
Deceptive Practices and Incompetent Support from QuickBooks
Comments: Overall a horrible experience with QuickBooks and their incompetent support representatives.
Pros:
I liked the reports and reporting features.
Cons:
My experience with QuickBooks has been nothing short of a nightmare. I encountered an issue with the payroll setup due to an error on QuickBooks' side, and their support team advised me to cancel the setup. I was explicitly assured by their support representative that canceling the process would not result in any additional credit checks. However, to my shock and dismay, I discovered multiple hard credit checks on my credit report after following their advice. When I confronted QuickBooks support about this, they informed me that each direct deposit application triggers a credit check and that these checks are irreversible. This is a complete contradiction to the information I was initially given, where I was assured there would be no further checks. Furthermore, I was informed that our payroll threshold should have exempted us from any credit checks in the first place. The support representatives have proven to be utterly incompetent, providing misleading and incorrect information. Their failure to resolve this issue or even acknowledge their mistake is deeply concerning. It's clear that QuickBooks has no regard for the impact their actions have on their customers' credit ratings and overall financial health. Despite reaching out multiple times, their response has been dismissive and unhelpful. They merely reiterated their policies without taking any responsibility for the misinformation provided by their own support team. This lack of accountability and transparency is unacceptable for a company handling sensitive financial data. I strongly advise anyone considering QuickBooks to think twice. Their deceptive practices and inadequate support have caused significant damage to my credit score, and their refusal to rectify the situation speaks volumes about their customer service standards. If QuickBooks does not take immediate and appropriate action to resolve this matter, I will escalate this issue to the credit bureaus, the Better Business Bureau, and any other relevant authorities to ensure they are held accountable for their actions. Save yourself the trouble and look for a more reliable and customer-focused alternative to QuickBooks. This experience has been a clear indicator of their lack of professionalism and respect for their customers.
Expensive Industry Standard Tool
Comments: There's a bit of a learning curve, especially for someone who isn't an accountant, just the business owner. Making sure everything is in the correct account or transaction type can become overwhelming, but once it's all in there, it's easy.
Pros:
QBO is a versatile tool that makes day to day accounting easy. I can easily see where we're at, financially, with linked accounts, reconciliation, reports and more.
Cons:
It's expensive. Being an Intuit product, they try to nickel and dime you for features that you may not necessarily need just because you need the access to a particular feature or need additional accounts. The limit on the number of accounts is kind of an absurd restriction for an industry standard accounting tool. However, it is for business, so you can always expect things for business to just be more expensive.
Quickbooks is the Quickest but not Cheap in Any Way
Comments: I am daily user who really enjoys the product- I think it can help with almost any type of accounting
Pros:
I love this software- I have tried other methods (one example being Accounting Suite) and just think Quickbooks offers smooth, easy to use and learn for anyone from the beginning stage all the way to advanced. I always am able to find support online if I run into questions but most of tr
Cons:
There isn't much not to like- some might consider some of the add ons expensive but there are basic packages must small business owners can afford.
