> **Pros**: The volume commitment was documented in the contract. That is the only reason the shortfall below is measurable.
> 
> **Cons**: We contracted for 125 tax returns and paid for all 125 up front. Instead delivered 17. The remaining 108 were prepared by my own staff in the final weeks before the deadline, which is exactly the workload we paid Instead to remove. When I requested a refund for the 108 returns Instead never prepared, they refused to refund any of it.

> I am the managing partner of a CPA firm with offices in California and Florida. We engaged Instead on a committed volume of 125 returns for the past filing season and received 14 percent of what we paid for. We were held to our side of the contract. Instead was not held to theirs. To any firm evaluating Instead: put the volume commitment, the turnaround standard, and the refund terms for nondelivery in writing, and assume you will need all three. I would not trust Instead with client work again, and I would not recommend them to another firm.
