"Good tool but pricey"

Comments: Overall, Harvest is a great tool and makes tracking time very easy. However, it's pricey compared to competitors and doesn't offer enough features to make it worthwhile.

Pros: Harvest makes tracking time very easy for our employees to input and for managers to review and approve. We've used Harvest for tracking production hours for projects as well as working hours for payroll. It's a very handy tool and is really easy to use.

Cons: The price seemed a bit steep considering it's a fairly simple tool. It does provide some features, but overall, it really only has one main function, and the price reflected a much more sophisticated software. In fact, we terminated our subscription once we found a cheaper alternative that does the exact same thing.

"Makes it very easy to invoice for my work"

Comments: Overall very happy with this product and it's ease of use. Makes it easy for me to produce a processional bill and have the backend accounting of what I have billed for and what is outstanding.

Pros: I really like the ease of being able to record my time and generate an invoice for it. It has several settings you can pre-setup to make invoicing really fast at the end of each week.

Cons: I have to always change the pay by date. My current client only pays out on the 5th of each month, and there isn't a good way for me to customize it to a day of a month. You can setup net 10, 15, etc. Also I would love it if you could add say date fields to the subject line in the email and the PDF it generates. Both things I manually add each week.

"Finally! An uncomplicated time tracking software!"

Comments: No fuss, just simple time tracking. It makes me more productive.

Pros: Harvest tracks time. No more, no less. That's a beauty of it. Name your task and click start. It's that easy. You can quickly edit you task title and adjust your time. I also think the reports are helpful. It's nice to see where you've spent most of your time. I've tried a few competitors and they just try too hard. It took so long to start tracking that I needed a separate tracker just for my time tracker! Harvest integrates with a lot of project management softwares as well.

Cons: I don't particularly care for the expenses portion. But that's just because I don't often request expenses. I can't really speak to it's functionality.

"Hands down best tool for time managment"

Comments: Projects stay (mostly) on budget and invoices get tracked and paid through one easy to use system.

Pros: Super easy to use, not trying to complicate it with too many bells and whistles. Love how it easily translates to invoicing too.

Cons: Few drawbacks. My only issues are how it integrates with Forecast (their other tool). Doesn't seem to offer much sharable data outside of the team members + project names.

"The only way to accurately keep track of your projects"

Pros: Harvest and the Harvest iPhone app make tracking my time and expenses easy. I also use their software to invoice and keep track of project budgets. A must have for any career that relies on keeping track of time!

Cons: Some editing capabilities (project, client) can be difficult to find. Invoices and client facing reports have limits on customization (I can’t use my business’s font for example).

"Tracks Time, Dimishes Trust with Employees"

Comments: I personally did not solve any business problems using Harvest, nor did I see any benefit to me as an employee. The only benefit I could see to the employer was being able to play Big Brother by using Harvest to monitor every second of my day. This software contributes to a corporate culture of distrust.

Pros: The only thing good I can say that I like about Harvest is that it is pretty easy to use. You simply search the client or project name, indicate whether it is a billable or non-billable task and then set the timer. There is also a space to elaborate on the specific details of the task being done.

Cons: What I like the least about this software is that the tracking is too granular. Employees that are subject to using it feel like Big Brother is watching and that the employer doesn't trust them. It also doesn't allow for any explanation of extenuating circumstances. For example, if an employee is tracking within Harvest and is expected to track in real time, there is no way to explain a computer glitch or if a system crashes in the middle of a task and the employee has to re-do the task from the beginning. In addition, if you are a billable employee, you are literally tethered to your computer all day, as you must "Harvest" every minute of your day if the employer wants an accurate read of activity. It is tedious and demeaning.

"Great software for teams using billable hours"

Comments: It's been great so far, we switched from Clockify and the biggest change is that it saves a lot of time creating invoices and makes it much easier for clients to pay.

Pros: I like how it tracks both the time and the payments in one system. We switched to Harvest because it was taking to much time to build out our invoices, Harvest automatically takes our billable hours and creates invoices instantly! It lets us customize our rates for each person for each different client and has a lot of extra features like tracking retainers, so we can charge a deposit for new clients. It has apps on all the different platforms (desktop app, mobile, chrome extension etc.) so it's very easy and simple to use. It also will do minimum billable increments which is great.

Cons: We only have the option of doing minimum billing increments as 6 min, 15 min, 30 min, or an hour, but not 10 minutes, which would be nice for us. Also, I wish there the fee/user would go down as you add users. At 12/month/user, the fees get really high as your team grows, it would be nice to have a bulk discount of some type.

"Excellent hour-tracking tool for smallish teams"

Comments: We can track how we use the time in projects very easily and also correct course if we're going over budget. Harvest has become almost indispensable for us.

Pros: Harvest is very easy to implement and fast to start using it productively. Tracking time is easy, and the reports are comprehensive. Works great also on mobile. For our team of 15, this is a great tool.

Cons: If you have a big team and a great deal of different projects, management can become unnecessarily complicated.

Pros: Harvest is very user friendly and allows staff to easily keep track of their hours, expenses, and project costs. Harvest also has an app that you can use while on the go. I have not found a better platform for keeping track of our employees than this.

Cons: It would be nice if you could make an expense as recurring rather than having to enter it every month.

"Harvest for Mac is a freelancers dream"

Pros: For Mac, the best part of the software is the amazing menu bar functionality. I don't have to use a chrome extension, so when I'm working in Photoshop or some other offline app, I can still easily track my time!

Cons: The invoicing system is great ... except ... you have to choose ACH and/or credit card as a payment method globally. This is not ideal, as there are some invoices that I only want to offer ACH on (aka big ones that I don't want to pay credit card fees on).

Comments: Really great product overall!

Pros: Harvest is super easy and flexible, especially for users who are jumping from project to project and need to track them separately. Great reports that you can pull daily, weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly and organize to review your team's hours, if needed. Can also invoice clients.

Cons: This software is built for companies not worried about employees padding hours - timers can be changed very easily.

Comments: Harvest is reliable, simple and comes with most of the features and reporting that I need to run my web agency. The integration with Basecamp is essential and the iphone app is a big plus. When it comes to time tracking, the simpler the better otherwise the time won't get recorded. Harvest does an excellent job on the user interface.

Pros: Interface, Ease of use, integrations

Cons: Would like more user permission options and more control over the quickbooks online integration.

Pros: I like the estimates, invoicing and time tracking from Harvest the best. We have it integrated with Asana and works great.

Cons: I wish the estimate templates gave you more control over the layout design. It doesn't even use a standard editor with basic HTML formatting tools, so it is cumbersome to format the terms and conditions.

"Best time tracking software for our company type"

Pros: I love that you can create tasks just for you. In our company we have created our own verbiage and this lets us create tasks just for us. It is so simple to create a new project.

Cons: Creating reports based on the work that was done for the day or for a total project can be a little tricky if you are not really good at computers. It would also be nice if on the mobile app you were reminded of a past time still running or if the project manager was notified by email that there is an employee with a timer still running.

"Easy to learn & use, essential for freelancers and billable work"

Comments: Overall, a positive experience. It helps keep teams accountable to each other, and keeps businesses accountable to their clients. And provides data to improve processes and efficiencies.

Pros: I like how easy it is to use. I've used it as an employee and as a freelancer. It helps you identify just how long tasks really take, and how to bill accordingly. It also helps you find ways to improve efficiency over time.

Cons: It's a little stressful the way some companies want you to use Harvest. Sometimes I forget my tracker is still running, sometimes I forget to start it. And sometimes it feels like micromanagement.

"Time Keeper"

Comments: Harvest is an efficient way for us to track time on each task of a project as well as invoice client directly. Before we were using two different platforms to track time and invoice.

Pros: The ease of use is what sold me. It allows me to check in on my team to make sure they're tracking their time appropriately. The two in one invoicing is the other feature that streamlines our process. Plus, the in-depth reporting really helps us understand how we're doing revenue-wise.

Cons: I wish there were a way to put a limit on time tracked in a particular task or project. This would stop some of the issues we have with going over budget. Or a way to see how many hours are left in a task without having to go into the project.

Comments: I used this app for 4 years and I never sen anything more intuitive and affordable

Pros: With Harvest you can create projects and tasks which will be available for users to track time. You can integrate it with Jira. You can set up a webhook with slack for reminders. Harvest has a mobile app as well as desktop app. The later can be configure to notify a user when they have be inactive for a while, and it gives an option to track that time as a different item

Cons: With Jira Integration, a project that is pre-selected is not consistent with the ticket. This is annoying when you are switching between user stories back and forth

"Harvest works but has some limits that make it less than useful"

Pros: I can create a project and log expenses and time to them. Easy to see what is going on. Easy to track the time and expenses.

Cons: Time can be logged to a project and task. Expenses can only be logged to a project. Seems like they missed something here. With mileage expenses, you cannot enter stat/end miles. You have to track that on your own and enter in the total driven for each mileage expense. No way to associate a vehicle with an expense. Customer support doesn't seem to think any of the mileage features will ever be addressed. Virtually zero integration with common accounting tools like Quickbooks. Everything has to be transferred manually.

"Amazing time tracking & invoicing tool for remote teams"

Comments: We use Harvest daily to track our time spent on projects across all clients. Monthly invoices are also generated automatically through Harvest's invoicing tool.

Pros: Harvest is amazing for tracking time across multiple projects, for small-medium sized teams. It's important that time tracking is easy, so that everyone on your team uses it, and Harvest excels in this aspect by providing apps on all common platforms (phones & desktop). The time tracking integrates beautifully with the invoicing tool, allowing the whole process to happen within Harvest (at no additional cost!)

Cons: There's a few minor limitations in functionality like not being able to enable time rounding on customer reports/invoices. It would also be really nice if Harvest were to include more integrations that weren't run through Zapier.

"Super to tracking and charging my time"

Pros: I loved how I could track my time spent on tasks in a live timer mode or I could retrofit the time accordingly based on an educated guess of a task I completed. I could easily extract my time logs to justify the costs of completing particular tasks to a client, which is massively important when it comes to software development as costs can often grown substantially.

Cons: On occasion I would have started the timer to track my work and I may have been disrupted by an important call or a task. The timer would continue to track the time which is expected, however, I have seen times whereby the tracking went over the weekend. A prompt after a particular time period such as hour intervals to check if you still need to live track should be included.

"Manage your work flow within your time"

Comments: I have found it super easy to use. The data record of reminders is all safe. The pricing is handy by two methods i.e. by its free or subscription deals. I am so comfortable after using it on our phones because it just needs a few clicks plus we can also make expenses through mobile app. Overall, we found it very useful as it is easy to use for every kind of business so we will recommend it you as well. Both the client and team would be saved from extra expenses due to tracker system. We found this platform, a strengthening tool for professionals.

Pros: It is a time tracking software which was combined with Twitter to facilitate its users to track time with their tweets as well. Today it is globally used in many meetings and business by many clients for work procedures. We have found it easy to handle despite the working platform.

Cons: I found that there was lack of connection between the website and app. It was pretty difficult to constantly have a check on the app. We found this the app did not function properly for tasks assignment to the workers. Moreover it is going well and giving great performance.

"Harvest Review"

Comments: Harvest has made my life so much simpler and cut down on the time I spend invoicing clients immensely. It has made my graphic and web design business a lot more efficient

Pros: Prior to using Harvest, I tried several different options for time tracking and invoicing clients. All of which didn't quite fit my needs for my graphic and web design business. Harvest has been the perfect fit for me. It allows me to organize items by client and individual projects under that client. I can easily start and stop timers to track my time on projects and then quickly create invoices to bill clients. You can run reports to track how your business is doing on invoices for the month, quarter or year. You can also track expenses. It has the capability to integrate into quickbooks as well.

Cons: I can't think of anything that I don't like about this software really. If I absolutely had to name something, setting up information/logo for invoices in the very beginning was a little tricky but easily solved by reading tutorial.

"Harvest is my indispensable freelancing software"

Comments: Customer support is amazing. I really love this software, and will continue to use it indefinitely.

Pros: There is so much to love about Harvest! First, it works, really really well. You set up your project - and YES projects can have sub-projects - and you start your timer. As long as you can remember to start and stop your timer, this is perfect. Every two weeks, or every month, when you need to send invoices, all you do is "create an invoice" and the software auto-generates the invoice, in as much or little detail as you'd like, taking all your time and translating that into a professional invoice. I love the graphics that help track how much money you are making. AND you can even input what you are spending versus what you are charging, in order to ensure that you are actually charging enough to cover all your costs. There is a great place to input expenses and receipts -- this software does it all, for a quite affordable rate.

Cons: The most challenging thing about this software is that you MUST set it up correctly. Take the time at the beginning to get your rates set, ensure that what is a 'billed' and a 'not billed' expense are correct. At the beginning, I was often accidentally putting time into 'not-billed' tasks, when it was just my mistake in setting up my categories.

"Time and expense tracking and billing"

Comments: I used Harvest stand-alone when I started my business. A few years ago I took my accounting online with Xero so I explored many of the time-tracking apps that integrate with it. After less than a year, and countless other apps, I returned to Harvest because I've found nothing easier. I create invoice drafts in Harvest and copy them to Xero for final billing. It's simple, fast, goes deeper if you need it, and is reasonably priced.

Pros: Harvest fits my business model. I'm a consultant who also does installs, repairs, and remote support. It's simple to set up Harvest with your client list, hourly rates, products and services. Once set up, tracking time and expenses is even simpler! They have a web interface and a mobile app. The mobile app duplicates most of the web features and is very handy when on-site - a couple taps selects the client and starts the clock. Creating invoices is a matter of running an Uninvoiced report, clicking the customer you want to invoice, and editing the items, descriptions, prices and tax rates. Then save the invoice and either email it directly to the recipient or save as PDF to print or attach later. Harvest can connect to Trello, Quickbooks, Xero, Stripe, PayPal, and about 80 other online applications, and has a programming API if you are so inclined. It only took me an evening to write a script to insert all my Harvest-tracked time into my CRM app's notes.

Cons: Everything is tracked as a project. To enter time, you first have to create a project to track it. Even if you are doing a one-off visit, you cannot track that hour or two until you have created a new project for that customer. It would be helpful to be able to log billable time directly to a customer.

"Great for time and billing; hard to integrate with accounting"

Comments: Ease of timekeeping and billing has improved. Integration with the rest of my accounting system has become harder.

Pros: I started using it because I did not find the timekeeping functions of Quickbooks easy enough to use. On that point, Harvest is much better--it is excellent at keeping track of time. In addition, Harvest makes it quite easy to bill clients for time and to follow up with repeated billings if needed.

Cons: I'll mention two things. First, the method of dealing with retainers needs some serious work to be useful for lawyers. If I have an outstanding invoice and a client sends me a retainer, I cannot have payment toward the invoice taken out of the retainer without a fairly convoluted process. Second, it is hard to integrate with Quickbooks. I need Quickbooks (or I suppose, something similar) to keep track of all my financial records. But when I am using Harvest for timekeeping and billing, I wind up making many of the entries twice.
