Use Pumble, not Slack

4.0 3 years ago

Comments: It's basically Slack, but better. And the paid option is sensibly priced, so that's fantastic too.

Pros:

Pumble is easy to use - if you've used Slack, you already know everything you need to about Pumble. But, crucially, Pumble allows unlimited message history in the free version. This is a crippling restriction of Slack, and the main reason I switched from Slack to Pumble.

Cons:

Pumble's search feature is not great, and requires basically knowing exactly what whole word terms you're searching for. Partial words won't get you anywhere.

Comments: We really have no issues with Pumble. It is permanently on our phones as well as desktops.

Pumble is great for sending quick messages without formality and for swapping files quickly.

It doesn't like Doc sharing - it converts the to PDFs.

Needs improvement

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: I really would love to see more updates soon. My team is planning to transition to Pumble, we still have to decipher if it's a good tool to use overall.

Pros:

Clean interface. Conversations are easy to read.

Cons:

1. Can the team use the app to conduct a meeting? 2. Can we share-screen? 3. Can the app light up when we receive a message? 4. Notification settings seem limited. 5. Can we link the app with our google calendar?

CAKE.com Response

Hi Roxanne, Thank you so much for your feedback. Kindly note that we are working hard in finalizing the features like audio and video calls including the screen share possibility. . When you are using Pumble on your PC, you will receive all notifications there. However, if you are away from your desktop, you will receive all notifications via the mobile app. Currently linking Pumble with other applications is possible using Webhooks but we are planning to introduce simpler integrations as well. Please write us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help your team set up everything and assist anywhere we can.

5.0 10 months ago

Comments: In general everything has been perfect, the free version is very complete! and I consider the PRO versions to be economical.

Pros:

I like how easy it is to set up channels and invite new users.

Comments: an absolute 5 star rated webtool, easy to use, pocket friendly.

Pros:

The Features helps our team to improvise and narrow down the workload and the communication is to the point and file sharing has become the icing on the cake and smooth as knife through the butter. Overall a budget friendly web tool to help us beat the system barrier and meet the timeline with the company goals.

Happy we switched!

5.0 10 months ago

Pros:

We were previously using another software which had limits on message history. Pumble not only allows us to look at our entire message history from Pumble, but we were also able import our entire message history from the old program we were using.

Cons:

We had some difficulty transferring our message history over, but the support team was able to finally get it sorted out, and it worked perfectly. Other than that, we have had no cons!

CAKE.com Response

Pumble is an outstanding chat app designed for seamless workplace communication. Its clean, intuitive interface ensures effortless navigation, while features like organised channels, direct messaging, and robust integration with other productivity tools make it indispensable for any team. Real-time notifications keep you updated without being overwhelming, and the app’s reliability ensures that you stay connected without any disruptions. Whether collaborating on projects or sharing quick updates, Pumble enhances productivity and fosters effective communication, making it an excellent choice for any professional environment.

Cons:

There is not any thing that I don't really like from Pumble, but I can say that maybe more improvement in video meetings, adding more features like backgrounds, emojis or layouts.

A good messaging application is the key to success for remote workers like me

5.0 10 months ago

Comments: I'm a freelance writer from Indonesia who works remotely, and Pumble is the only messaging app used in the company. I started using Pumble in 2021. It didn't take long for me to be able to use the application, because it has a simple interface that is easy to use and supports my work as a writer which requires good communication with the team perfectly.

Pros:

- Fast - Light - Simple interface - Easy to use - Can be accessed from any device

Cons:

Honestly, as long as I use this application, I have not found anything that makes me not like this application.

More people should be using this!

5.0 3 years ago

Comments: If you’re a new business needed to communicate with a number of people, this app is the answer and I feel more people should know about it. Other competitors are charging extortionate rates for similar products and it makes absolutely no sense why everyone isn’t just using this.

Pros:

It’s honestly changed the way I do business with clients - for anyone who’s working with a number of clients in any industry you generally don’t want to always give out your number or rely on common instant message platforms (especially if you want to try and switch off in the evenings) it’s been an absolute game changer for me being able to add all of my clients in and chat to them 1-2-1 at all times

Cons:

I find a lot of my clients get confused during the set up - when I send them an invite they’ll often create their own workspace when I instruct them to join mine. So maybe the joining could be a bit more straight forward from that sense

Pumble - so far so good but short of a few features

4.0 3 years ago

Pros:

Pumble works well using the features it has. Real time chat works well as does thread and direct messages.

Cons:

(Note: using Xubuntu and xfce) No spell correction. Cannot tailor notification sounds. No voice calls, no video calls. "They're coming". Often slows down by end of day (desktop product) and has to be killed and restarted.

CAKE.com Response

Hi Nigel, Thank you for your review! Kindly note that we've added one-on-one phone and video calls to our app and are currently working on group calls. The ability to customize notification sound will also be available in the future. And if you are experiencing any performance issues feel free to reach out to our support team at [email protected]. A Robust Team Communication Tool

4.0 10 months ago

Pros:

Pumble is a standout choice for team communication, thanks to its user-friendly interface and generous free plan that supports unlimited users and message history. This makes it particularly appealing for small businesses and startups looking for a cost-effective solution. Its ability to integrate with various tools and platforms adds to its versatility, and the fact that it works seamlessly across web, desktop, and mobile devices ensures you can stay connected no matter where you are.

Cons:

However, Pumble does have a few drawbacks. While it covers the basics very well, it lacks some of the advanced features that more premium tools offer, such as extensive customization options and AI-driven insights. Some users have also experienced issues with notification settings, which can lead to either missed messages or unnecessary interruptions. Additionally, the file-sharing capabilities could be improved, with some limitations on the types and sizes of files that can be shared.

5.0 10 months ago

Comments: Pumble offers a solid, user-friendly, and cost-effective team communication solution, but may lack the extensive integrations and advanced features found in more established platforms.

Pros:

The app includes various features essential for team collaboration, such as direct messaging, group chats, file sharing, and mentions, which help keep communication organized and efficient.

Cons:

I find Pumble's interface less polished or intuitive compared to leading alternatives.

An affordable and near feature-complete business messaging app

4.0 3 years ago

Pros:

The lack of a need for an account by just using email invite codes that are remembered by your browser is very well done feature that I would welcome in many other apps. Furthermore, the chat features are well done and in particular the thread functionality is very well organized with helpful menus for threads you are in. Also, the free version of the file sharing limits are not at all restrictive, which was a pleasant surprise.

Cons:

There is an annoying bug in the desktop browser version where if you have a channel open while you receive a notification in it, the notification stays until you go to another channel and then reopen the current channel, as opposed to going away right away (because you are in the channel and thus you see the notification right away). Also, its file preview could support more common video and audio file formats like .mkv, and a "Reply" button in text channels a la Discord or Slack would be nice.

Glad we made the switch from Slack

5.0 3 years ago

Pros:

We’ve been using Pumble since it launched. Our team is amazed at how responsive their support team is. They’re continuously updating the software, and they really take on customer feedback. This was VERY important to us. We’re pleased to have such a great Slack alternative for less $. We transitioned from their Free plan, to Pro, and now finally to Server.

Cons:

There were a few teething issues in the very beginning that have since been resolved.
