All around great accounting and project management software package.
Comments: Great accounting system with additional project management features.
Pros:
Foundation has more features and options then I can hope to use. It is able to be configured and set up work work around any business work flow and accounting style. Our accountants love it and the senior management loves it because they can quickly and easily get a overview of the financial status of the company then drill down to individual invoices and pay applications if they want to. The project management module allows our project management team to tie in everything they generate and respond to the project.
Cons:
Some of the features feel tacked on with little integration between the different modules. The project management system could definitely be easier to use and more intuitive.
Honest Answers
Comments: Overall, it's a good software. I have seen many changes and am hopefully for many more changes that will broaden the ability to use Foundation with other software.
Pros:
Good software for construction accounting.
Cons:
That we can not file 941 returns from Foundation. Reporting does not always fit what we need.

Pros:
I did not like most of the things that Foundation had to offer. I guess I could say after a few years you could navigate it because you were used to its quirks
Cons:
The list is expansive. The system is unwieldy, unstable, and the customer service was rude and mostly unhelpful.

Make Informed Decisions with Accurate Data
Comments: It will not be an easy transition from your current accounting software. Follow the implementation teams direction, be candid with what your expectations are, and commit to learning and using the system for your needs. It will get easier and eventually you will see your efforts rewarded. After a year, I began learning more and more ways to make the system work even better for our team and I am now confident in it's ability to provide the data our team needs to make informed decisions to benefit our company.
Pros:
Foundation is a solid accounting system. Our implementation team made certain we took the time to set up the software to match our needs. Foundation is tailored to allocate everything to the appropriate accounts to generate reports that provide valuable data to make informed decisions for our business.
Cons:
Some accounting scenarios, especially in construction, require you to learn specific ways to account for them in Foundation. A mistake made in this system is not impossible to correct, but it does require a strong knowledge of how software operates. Luckily the support team is fantastic in these scenarios. I've sometimes taken hours to resolve concerns on my own, then contacted support and resolved the concerns in minutes. Use the support team, listen and learn, and they will save you a lot of frustration and time.

Comments: I would recommend Foundation as a quality software for Construction.
Pros:
The variety of reports that are created for you and that you can create to suite your specific needs. Fairly easy to use and figure out.
Cons:
Foundation is great, however the ProjectHQ has things left to be desired. Although it should be a perfect match, it seems to have flaws that they have not figured out yet.

Great Software
Pros:
Great software and being able to do amazing job costing.
Cons:
It is a little bulky at times to sign in. It would be great if it was more online based.

Not for the smaller company
Comments: Overall this is an expensive software package that would be better suited to larger companies.
Pros:
Staff is knowledgeable when responding to calls. Calls are normally returned in 1-2 days
Cons:
It does not integrate with other products that are in their suite such as Estimating Edge.

Good Product; Easy to Use
Comments: Overall, my experience has been very positive. I have been working on Foundation for 13 years.
Pros:
It is easy to navigate. I also like the reports that are available to run from Foundation.
Cons:
Some functions tend to lock up and "not respond", which causes some significant wait time. This is especially true when entering a job markup.

One system for all accounting needs
Comments: Overall it is working out great. They system is responsive, and I can navigate between screens with ease. Their support is still the best!
Pros:
Their support and implementation process. The ability to handle our AP invoices and AR invoice AIA generation is nice.
Cons:
Not able to store invoices to the record very easily, must use another module just for documents so it's not very convenient. System logs you off after about 30 min of inactivity. There are some quirks when it comes to paying bills via EFT or Credit Card but it just takes getting used to. Tracking PO's is hard no matter what system you use.

Pros:
That everything I need is in one program and it all integrates with each other.
Cons:
When entering in an invoice in A/R it doesn't always show the whole invoice when previewing. This is because it isn't a true word program.

Good construction software especially for payroll.
Comments: The customer service team and system works really well.
Pros:
The payroll features when it came to tracking union jobs and prevailing wage.
Cons:
The features and system is overall very outdated and archaic.
Alternatives Considered:
Great Software, Very Good Value, Oustanding Support. Usually get call back within 30 minutes
Comments: We save time on payroll since we no longer had to manually enter time cards for all the field employees. Project managers can easily view their project reports, rather than have to wait for a report to be printed and given to them.
Pros:
Ease of use. Once we got past the implementation, which was really pretty simple, we were off and running. Payroll importing of timecards feature is outstanding, no daily data entry except for overhead employees. You create your menu an follow the steps. Accounts Payable features are easy to use and data input in quick and easy, allows you to attached copies of the invoices so others can see what was shipped and invoiced. Check writing is simple and automatically creates additional invoice stub if invoices exceed allowed space on check.
Cons:
Would like to see ability to create more reports and lists without all the other data on the report. Must import to excel for some things, which to me is an extra step that could be avoided. Ability to insert blank lines on lists to separate employees on custom employee lists. Doesn't have subaccounts for accounts that you want in more detail, such as repairs to your building or keeping auto expenses separately if you don't purchase the equipment module.

Great product with AMAZING customer service
Comments: We have had a great experience with Foundation, for our size business, it's perfect!
Pros:
The software is easy to use, and customizable. It's simple, and customer service is Fantastic.
Cons:
I wish there were more standard caned accounting reports like TTM income/balance sheets and the ability to customize standard budget reports. More filtering criteria to run reports would be great.

The user friendliness of the software and the support we can always get when there is an issue

No real issues understanding all software does not always meet 100% of the needs of a specific user.

Comments: From a CPA view I like it the ease of drilling down into the reports needed for financial reviews and reporting

Excellent software and exceptional techinical support
Pros:
We have used Foundation Construction Accounting for almost fifteen years. We have been extremely pleased with this software and it continues to be one of the most reliable and well-developed software that we use in our firm. Very user-friendly and logical in its processes. Reporting is excellent and is not only used by our accounting staff, but also by our project management staff to monitor job performance and budget/cost comparisons. Foundation is very responsive to client requests for changes/improvements to various modules/reporting. And the technical support team is incredible!! Not once have we ever reached out to technical support that they were unable to solve our issue in a prompt and precise manner! The technical support provided is one of the best reasons to use Foundation.
Cons:
There is not anything that we do not like about this software.

Horrible IT
Comments: IT is unable to trouble shoot issues with freezing and crashes. They take too long to respond. They are unwilling or unable to provide clear solutions. Error messages keep accruing. They blame their customer without providing clear guidance or attempting to upgrade their servers, programming, etc. Their training videos are awful. The software is not data entry friendly--too much mouse work. The AP team is unable to work simultaneously without "server not responding" messages that freeze multiple people. Too much crashing with lost entries & document attachments.
Pros:
Exported reports to Excel are easy to data filter.
Cons:
Constant crashes, freezes, and error messages. Unable to select or unselect more data for specified report running. Too much clicking and not enough options to keep hands on keyboard for data entry. Inability to run reports while doing entry with document imaging. Training videos are too long and difficult to find specific information. Examples in training videos sounded like presenter didn't know what they were talking about. Horrific IT assistance. The entry screen cannot be minimized or maximized to assist with reading. The data entry screen is too wide to fit without scrolling. IT doesn't understand how the AP module works because they are unable to classify what the error messages mean and what the specific error or crash issue is with entry.

Be Careful. Implementation is PAINFUL and we never got it to work after 10 months
Comments: Overall experience was incredibly poor. I wish I would have stuck with my gut, got an accounting software and used HCSS Heavyjob for daily costs and timecards. I tried to go on the cheap with a company that I thought could do both, and would be better for a smaller contractor. They are not and act like they are a player when in reality none of their systems work like the true players products in the industry.
Pros:
I am having trouble finding anything I liked. We tried to implement and get on line for 10 months, never got across the finish line. Billing is clunky and grid timecards don't work on a tablet without being web based. Customer service is slow to respond to questions. I would look at others. It was a costly lesson to me.
Cons:
Implementation was horrible, unplanned and without script. Again, in 10 months we could never get it to fully work. Cost us a lot of money and time we didn't have to spare. Absolutely ZERO SENSE OF URGENCY on the implementation team. None. You get your hour training 1-2 times per week and that is it. Also, cannot take credit card payments nor is the billing convenient if you work on a lot of small jobs. You will spend more time inputting than the work takes.

Strong Program, lack of support and updates
Comments: There are better programs out there.
Pros:
The program does it all besides estimating. Has a good system of checks and balances and everything is tracked so very hard for employees to cover their tracks. It does a lot well but everything has its hiccups.
Cons:
There are several things I dislike about the product as it has so much potential to be 10x better yet they have no ambition to make it better. 95% up the updates released by foundation software are fixes to glitches or problems. Very rarely is there an actual new feature or upgrade to the program. There are several flaws with the program that would be easy to fix, which have been suggested but go unanswered. Such as the pages scroll very awkwardly, they jump at the end of the page onto the next page but not at the top of the page. Very difficult to review a report on the screen when it keeps going back and forth. Their support team must have a very high turnover as everytime I call I know more than the person who is suppose to be providing the support. To their credit they do go and get the right answer and get back to you but the typical resolution to a problem is 24 hours. For us 2 hours is a long time when your waiting on an important resolution such as payroll.

Foundation is great for mid size contractors
Comments: Overall experience with Foundation is pretty great. They have a great support staff and generally get calls back very quickly.
Pros:
We like the software because it allows PM's to see costs and review their job details in ways other accounting software was not able to do.
Cons:
We wish we could use the options for lien waivers or contract/PO templates in a more usable format. Because it's not very user friendly we have processes outside of the software for this. I also wish you could schedule call backs instead of waiting for a callback at a time that may not be convenient for you.

My Foundation Software Experience
Pros:
We opted to use the SAS application. Since we pay a monthly fee we get 100% support free of charge. Also Foundation takes care of the tax tables and has them preloaded.
Cons:
I think Foundation is somewhat resistive to outside suggestions. Currently they want them submitted in writing by a user, someone like myself. I'd like to on the phone explain what the suggestion is and a Foundation employee write up the suggestion. That way they could see what the requested change is and see whether or not its a good idea. I'd feel as though my suggestion at least got a hearing ear and didn't end up in the trash can.
