Microsoft Project has been big corporate go to for a reason
Comments: Overall using Microsoft Project has been an easy and efficient way to manage the projects I oversee. It's a breeze to get started and because everyone has to use Microsoft it's easy to connect with team members.
Pros:
I really like the tie in with every other Microsoft product we use in the office. It's been very easy collaborate with the other people on my team and keep everyone on track.
Cons:
I don't love using Microsoft products. Sometimes it feels antiquated and you have to take 2 steps where only 1 should be necessary.
Perfect Control Design Timelines
Comments: Chosen for its entire suite of project management abilities, with easy integration with other Microsoft products. One of its main assets was also its ability to handle complex resource allocation, as well as the ability to provide detailed timeline visualizations, which made it a good choice for managing ongoing design projects at once. If you’re looking for the power to create detailed project timelines and manage complex project dependencies, then Microsoft Project is your best friend. The ability of our software to robustly report on progress against baselines has been vital in keeping design projects on schedule as well as in budget.
Pros:
Advanced resource leveling algorithms that automatically adjust project schedules to the capabilities of their people. Customizable templates that apply to design project workflows. Pre-built task dependencies and milestones.
Cons:
It would be more intuitive for visual design professionals, making it an interface. No collaboration options for team feedback. The resource allocation visualization in this project could be improved.
A useful tool for planning a single project (installed version) with severe limitations in the online version
Comments: MS Project is a reasonably matured software that works well as long as you plan only one project. I could not make it combine several project files into one plan. The online version is - at least for me - not an option to be considered for planning a project.
Pros:
Microsoft Project (in the version that you install on your computer) is a tool that has been around for a long time, and therefore has a number of sophisticated features and menus that many more modern tools don't offer.
Cons:
At least in theory, MS Project can link several separate projects from different locations. In theory, I did not manage to get this link done, but rather my application crashed. The reason can be that I did something wrong and that other users can make this work, in that case I would say it is not intuitive and has pitfalls. A MAJOR weakness of MS Project in the online version is that I could not make MS Project display the name of a task in the Gantt chard next to or within the displayed bar. Our project plans consist of a huge number - in some cases more than a hundred - hierarchical tasks where many of them are linked to predecessors so we end up with a complicated plan of a huge number of bars in the Gantt chart that are connected by many arrows. However, without seeing the name of the task next to the bar, the user has to move his eyes to the far left of the monitor to read the text and learn what the bar means. If your eye accidentally skips a row while doing this, you get confused. I believe that because of that (and many other features that are missing compared to the installed version of MS Project) the online version of MS Project - at least for my purposes - is useless.

Good tool for small projects in small teams
Comments: I used Microsoft Project mainly for private projects and projects with me as only team member due to its lack of team features. For private projects and projects without a team it is very easy o use and quite helpful.
Pros:
Very good and easy to use. Especially useful for personal projects or small teams that do not require simultaneous access.
Cons:
Not suitable for teams since simultaneous access is not easily possible.
For efficient project management and operational effectiveness, Microsoft Project is an essential tool.
Comments: Microsoft Project's resource management feature is another key benefit. It is possible to prevent resource misuse and balance job distribution by using the platform's extensive insights about resource allocation, availability, and workload. Ensuring timely and budget-conscious project delivery and maximizing team productivity depend on this capacity.
Pros:
Microsoft Project's strong and extensive project management features are what I like most about it as the Director of ICT Operations. Offering a wide range of capabilities to help with scheduling, planning, and resource management, Microsoft Project excels at handling complicated projects. We can readily view project timeframes, dependencies, and key paths thanks to its intuitive Gantt chart capability, which is helpful. Efficient monitoring of project progress and prompt detection of possible bottlenecks or delays are made possible by this visual representation. Its compatibility with other Microsoft programs, like Teams, Excel, and SharePoint, is yet another noteworthy aspect. This smooth connectivity makes it possible to import and export project data with ease, encouraging departmental collaboration and guaranteeing that everyone is aware of every development.
Cons:
It is less affordable for businesses that do not need all of the complex capabilities it offers due to its price structure, which can be somewhat pricey, especially for the cloud-based version.
It boosts efficiency because to its compatibility with other Microsoft products like Excel and Teams
Comments: Using Microsoft Project, I can divide the work into smaller, more manageable chunks, set due dates, and monitor progress with great accuracy. You should pay special attention to the Gantt charts because they are a great way to see how everything is connected and when things will happen.
Pros:
One thing that stood out to me about using Microsoft Project was how easy it made project management, even the most complex ones, thanks to its great capabilities and adaptability. Working as a research assistant at a university requires me to juggle multiple assignments and projects at once.
Cons:
The interface's intricate design and features may be overwhelming for someone using it for the first time. Efficacious teamwork is further hindered by the inability to collaborate in real-time without purchasing costly add-ons.
Alternatives Considered:
MSP - Project Gantt chart
Comments: My overall experience with Microsoft Project has been positive. It offers powerful tools for managing large-scale projects effectively. Its detailed planning features and robust resource management make it ideal for complex projects.
Pros:
its ability to organize complex projects with clarity, from timelines to resource allocation. Its Gantt chart visualization makes tracking progress intuitive and efficient. Plus, its integration with other Microsoft tools ensures seamless collaboration.
Cons:
The interface feels outdated, and navigating complex projects can sometimes feel clunky. Additionally, it lacks the flexibility and ease of use found in some modern project management tools.
Free Online Training & Couses.. take advantage of them if you can!
Comments: Microsoft Project would likely be the best way to go if in fact, you had the proper training prior to implementing this software into your company. My biggest problem was figuring out how to update projects after the fact. Adding changes seemed difficult & to be honest I likely didn't give it enough time & decided to go back to our previous software before presenting it to the entire team.
Pros:
I love the idea of using Microsoft project & have heard others speak very highly of it. I know it has to be one of the more popular software programs in the industry because of how many of my peers are using it. And have been for many, many years. For me, the software was just a little too intimidating. I wish I would have taken advantage of the free online training & courses prior to diving in. I most likely could have got the hang of things & would have felt comfortable presenting it to my team.
Cons:
Microsoft Projects has such good intentions with this software but I truly just felt it was a too complex & difficult to navigate on the scale I needed it for. I sometimes wish I would have given it more time & may decide to go back to it in the future but for now we switched back to smartsheet as it gets the job done & takes less brain power for me. Which lately has been running close to empty!
MS Project
Pros:
Very user friendly compared to other similar softwares
Cons:
The programme can look very basic, especially for occasions where it is being presented to a client
Easiest Project Scheduling software
Comments: It has been great for the majority of high-rise residential building projects in which I have worked. It allowed us to control the project schedule accurately throughout the project duration.
Pros:
It has an easy learning curve as it brings a similar interface to other Microsoft software such as Excel.
Cons:
It can have potential limitations when dealing with highly complex construction projects or if you need to work simultaneously with other team members.
Review of Microsoft Project
Comments: its useful for organizing and keeping a clear view of all the moving parts in a project, making it easier to manage and complete
Pros:
User-friendly interface, Organizing your projects, Time management made easy and do not have to spend so-much time and auto suggestion of several options for all Microsoft projects, Compatibility with other tools Effective budget and cost management, Timely project completion Great flexibility and custom fields, Progress tracking and reporting etc.. Another benefit of the MS Project is the fact it enables back up of files and documents and is cheaper to implement.
Cons:
A major disadvantage is its not effort-able by the small enterprises & individual users
Easy to Use, Easy to Keep Track of Projects
Comments: It didn't take long to master using Project. It easily gave me quick snapshot information of the progress of projects as well as the means to easily convey that info to others. The user interface was intuitive and made it easy to modify and expand projects.
Pros:
The ease with which it is possible to share useful project planning and management information with other users in a readily understandable visual format.
Cons:
None. Its features worked well for my project planning.
Stay on top of your tasks with Microsoft Project
Pros:
Microsoft Project is really convenient to used compared to other programs. It is extremely popular as a project management tool and allows for me to easily share files with others who also use the tool to stay organized.
Cons:
I would like for the software to be a one time cost instead of an annual subcription which is really costly over time.

MS Project: A comprehensive but complex approach for project management
Comments:
My overall experience with microsoft projects stands average.
As it is very expensive i could only afford the free trial and overall
due to its complex ui it has been a bit hard. There were positives too like the flexiblity and scalablity factors
Pros:
likes about microsoft project is that it is robust with good flexibility and scalability. It is very easy to even integrate with out microsoft tools like powe bi,excel etc. It also offers a good amount of customization too.
Cons:
One of the cons is that ms project is very expensive compared to its competative product out there in the market. Even the UI is bit complex and handling large projects become difficult.
Excellent Project Management tool but very expensive!!!
Comments: Good project management tool and user friendly, but it has too much automation which cause false values, especially in tasks management. Also, it is a very expensive and licensed limited software, therefore, unless your company is a multinational corporation, I don't recommend it since there are a lot of less expensive project management tool on the market that have the exact same features.
Pros:
Microsoft Project fully integrates with all Microsoft 365 tools and it is super user friendly to use.
Cons:
Not good if your clients need to collaborate on the tasks progress because it requires your clients to have an MS Project license which most don't have. Also, MS Project auto-calculate realisation time by the amount of days you set for a task which doesn't reflect the real time in hours for the task. Finally, it is an insanely expensive tool, there are far more less expensive project management tools that have the same exact features.
Lean, mean, organization machine
Comments: Overall it's a good experience. It does what it does well, but if you're trying to make it be something more it will leave you waning.
Pros:
I like how easy it is to use & that it is integrated with other Microsoft products.
Cons:
It was a bit lean to be used as a full service PM tool, but for smaller teams, to dos, and simple projects it's great.

Alternatives Considered:
A review of Microsoft Project
Comments: Overall I am quite satisfied with the services of Microsoft Project
Pros:
Microsoft Project applications are easily accessible from the MS Office Store and Sharepoint Store and can be used to increase the product's functionality, such as Custom Dashboards etc. The main advantage is large database and well-written documentation, questions and issues can be readily answered within the community. On the other hand, Microsoft offers effective technical help.
Cons:
Although the use is flawless, the configuration is not the easiest, however once configured. User management is difficult and time-consuming.
Essential software for project planning and management
Comments: I think Microsoft project is the easiest way to project plan for engineering projects. Primavera is a strong tool, however, for less experienced planners and managers, Microsoft project is the easiest to use and simplest to learn.
Pros:
It is easy to use compared to other project planning softwares. It also integrates easily with teams and other used programs.
Cons:
It is costly, and not everyone can have access to quickly editing or working on a plan. People will default to do work in excel since it is more easily available.
Microsoft Project
Comments: Superb. It is a 'mandatory must have' tool for all Project Manager and thier team.
Pros:
It made planning & scheduling relatively and easy with its intuitive features & flexible function. It is ubiquitous (anyplace, any time) to get project to stay on task, keep projects organized, and tracked & getting work done like Sharing files, co-authoring and editing content as well as working together simultaneously.
Cons:
tedious workflow setup especially when there's too many checkpoints of 'what if then else' decision is required
Review of Microsoft Project
Comments: It really depends on the scheduling standards of the company you are applying for and their delivery approach. If they are following adaptive/agile life cycles, they may get by without using a traditional scheduling engine. While familiarity with a specific scheduling tool might be asked during an interview or part of a job description, I've never heard of it being a "must have" as it is fairly easy to learn how to use one of these tools – the hard work is facilitating the development of the WBS and network diagram, which are the prerequisites for its use.
Pros:
Excel-like interface Flexible project planning Team collaboration Extensive reporting capabilities.
Cons:
Switching between Microsoft Project applications Extra steps for online syncing Few integrations outside Microsoft.
Powerful tool for Managing complex projects
Comments: No doubt a powerful project management tool, can help a lot to enhance the execution of the complex projects. however it can be time taking for someone new such softwares to keep track of the project
Pros:
It is complete tool for managing complex projects, I like the ability to create detailed project plans with timlines , task and dependencies. Integration with other ms tools like excel is also nice to have in a project managment tool
Cons:
Sometimes the tool features can get overwhelming for someone new, and it can take quite a time to learn all.
A comprehensive project planning
Comments: Its collabration features are less intuitive compared to modern tools like Trello. It needs additional setups like SharePoint for team collaboration.
Pros:
It offers customizable reports such as project timelines, resource allocation, and budget tracking, making it easy for project managers to communicate progress and key metrics.
Cons:
It's not cost-effective for small teams that may not need all of its advanced features, making it less accessible for those with limited budgets.
A Powerful Project Management Software
Pros:
When it comes to handling business projects, Microsoft Project offers great features and also makes project collaboration easy too. Tracking progress as well as managing projects and tasks has been easy too.
Cons:
No serious malfunctioning while interacting with Microsoft Project
Great tool for Project Managers and coordinators
Comments: I am not from project management background but was required to help project coordinators with a couple of projects and hence hot the opportunity to learn and explore this amazing software. Initially, being a beginner, it was a little confusing to understand but as I got the hang of it, it’s super simple and easy to use and to manage projects.
Pros:
The best part is how easy it is use to for project management, all the features are right in front and hence provides easy access to all to management ongoing projects, deadlines
Cons:
Interface can be a little more user friendly but overall great tool
Microsoft Project review
Comments:
I will definitely look into some lectures on how MS Project works.
Get the fundamentals right for the prospective employers!
Pros:
1.The basics are easy to use and understand, but it is amazing how many features and abilities this software has that go beyond basic project management.
Cons:
1.I did not find anything so far that troubles me about this software
