About Square Payments
Square powers secure payments even when you dont use a reader. Virtual Terminal for over-the-phone transactions, Invoices and more!
I have used square payment for two of my online stores before, the integration process is very easy, the payment processing is fantastic and the fees is inexpensive.
You cannot change the currency once you create the customer, it's really bad because maybe the client could pay with another credit card or another currency.

Square Payments allows you to accept payments no matter where you are!
Comments: Square Payments is easy to use and simple to each others. Since I like to do business both on and offline, it is definitely a very viable tool for my art business. Whether I am out in the world vending or just on the Internet sellimg items via my website, this allows me to be flexible with my sales no matter where I am at.
Pros:
Square payment software is easy to use both online and in "RL" (Real Life). If you have a versatile business and you are conducting sales both on and offline, this makes it easy to accept payments no matter where you are! If you are the type to always carry a little bit of product with you, download the mobile app and you can even accept payments when you are just out and about.
Cons:
So far, I haven't found anything that I don't like.
Alternatives Considered:
Square Payments is easy to set up and allows you to capture payment multiple ways!
Comments: We've used Square Payments for the last 4 years and during that time, Square has made a ton of updates that improve the software. For example, we've used their Payment Link option to collect payment from clients retroactively in situations where their card was declined or the wifi was down at the time of service.
Pros:
Square Payments is easy to set up and begin accepting payments for small businesses. It has integration with our accounting software so we can easily categorize payments as they occur and offers great features like transaction reports to stay on top of your money.
Cons:
Square payments does take a fee for each transaction but that is the norm.
Massive Incompetence
Comments: God awful and excessively costly with their constant service fallovers and enabling thieves to steal from you.
Pros:
Nothing, they have no accountability, no decency, and no competency whatsoever. Fools and clowns.
Cons:
Fraudulent chargeback by a mentally challenged thief that posted photos of his received good publicly. Provided that to Square to appeal the illegal chargeback, and they failed! It couldn't have been easier to win, yet they force you to let them respond on your behalf and screw it up majorly, then refuse to identify the thief so you can fix it in civil court. Disgusting incompetence with no accountability. Don't end up stuck with them like me because of hardware investments, they are beyond awful and will lose your money time and time again.

Square for the win!
Comments: I have never had any issues with Square payments and I have been using them for 5 years now for my small business. They are prompt and very easy to use.
Pros:
Square payments make it easy for me to take credit card payments from customers either at my shop or on the go.
Cons:
The only thing I would change about square is to lower the fees, but they are really not bad at all compared to other companies I have researched before deciding on my square.
Alternatives Considered:
User Friendly and fairly priced.
Comments: I have gotten locked out of my account a few times and had difficulty getting back in. You better hope if something goes wrong it is not the weekend. Other than that I love having a square account to take credit card payments on the go with my phone. They give you the first reader for free and the POS are actually priced very well. It is fast and easy to not only set up, but to also use.
Pros:
I like that once you start taking payments it only takes 5 minutes tops to appear in your Square account. I also like that you can sign up for a checking and savings account with square and there are no fees for using the card. I like the tap to pay where the customer and I just tap phones together and it makes a sound and a happy face pops up. I can then send a reciept to their email. You get your first reader for free as well. I do not use it anymore really because my phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone outlet, but I prefer tap to pay better anyway.
Cons:
The thing I like least if the difficulty getting ahold of customer service at times. Also when I first started taking payments I had to wait days for the money. I am not sure if I get it fast now because I have a square business checking account, or if everyone can get it that fast. I have used it for so long that I do not recall.

Square, it's been over ten years, and I still like you
Comments: Overall, I think Square is a fantastic choice for small businesses (under $1mil in sales). There is so much flexibility in how you can accept and process payments and Square's latest improvements truly make it a seamless way to keep payment records!
Pros:
I've used Square for over ten years now, across multiple businesses. I've been very pleased with the ability to run various types of transactions and without a monthly fee.
Cons:
The Virtual Terminal can be buggy, the phone app is prone to freezing. I wish the reports linked to actual transaction (for instance, if I see there was a spike in sales on December 15th according to the reporting graph, I'd like to be able to click the 15th from the report and see a list of transactions). The other grievances have actually been dealt with as Square continually improves their service!
Easy set up and payments
Comments: It was easy to set up invoice templates, based on the types of services we provide. It looks professional on the receiving end and easy for customers to make payments confidently, as Square is a well known name. We can get money deposited into our account quicker than the old merchant service we used.
Pros:
The pricing is competitive. The invoice templates we can send to customers are customizable.
Cons:
There is a lot of extra clicking to get between invoicing and just taking a payment, which could be minimized.
Alternatives Considered:
The most user friendly POS
Pros:
Honestly, everything. Between 2009-2011, I looked at so many different POS (we were making the switch from an old push button cash register). Even systems that were designed specifically for coffee shops fell wayyyy flat. Then square came along and made it all so so easy to use. I’m not much of a tech person, especially 13 years ago, and set out whole library up while I was on maternity leave and nursing my baby. It was that easy.
Cons:
I am a part of a small local franchise that operates as more of a co-op of shop owners. The one complaint is that We can’t all share gift cards.
Great Option for Businesses
Comments: Overall great experience and I still recommend them. I used Square to accept payments for single invoices and recurring subscriptions. Easy to see what accounts receivable are pending, and easy to send invoices with reminders.
Pros:
Receive money instantly if you use their debit card, user friendly, easy to set up, ability to set recurring invoicing without a separate fee.
Cons:
Now there are separate subscriptions required for some more advanced options. You can't (as far as I could see) set an invoice to automatically charge the customer unless the customer selected it, and you can't enter a customer's payment information directly (as far as I could see). Square Contracts - which is an amazing feature - has one problem - if you need to do a contract with a business/organization, it fills the contract as if it is with the signer rather than the org.
Alternatives Considered:
A Reliable Choice for Simple, Occasional Credit Card Processing
Comments: Overall, Square has been an excellent solution for processing smaller credit card transactions in our business. The invoicing feature is especially useful, allowing us to quickly create and email invoices with direct payment links, which streamlines the process for clients. Accepting credit card payments has removed some hurdles for clients, helping to reduce the time it takes to initiate projects, as they don’t have to wait for ACH or check approval.
Pros:
Square Payments is incredibly easy to use with minimal setup required. I appreciate that there are no monthly subscription fees, which works well for me since I only use it occasionally. The predictable, flat-fee pricing per transaction is a big plus, making it a convenient and affordable option for when clients prefer to pay by credit card.
Cons:
I’ve noticed that Square may place holds on funds for security reasons, which has made me cautious about using it for larger transactions. This limitation affects our ability to rely on Square for bigger payments, as a hold on substantial funds could impact our ability to deliver on larger service engagements.
Alternatives Considered:
The convenience of using Square
Comments: My overall experience has been great, except for a few hang ups and glitches. I had been worth using for my business, and it works great for my companies needs.
Pros:
I like the ease of setting up on the go I safety features that Square offers I like that I don't have to just have a stationary POS. I can take it on the go.
Cons:
The one thing I dislike is the time it takes for my funds to become available for use or transferring to my bank account. Sometimes I can transfer to my bank account and sometimes I have to wait 24 hours to transfer my funds.
Great software for the new small business
Comments: This is great software for the begginer or someone who has a wide range of people accepting payments
Pros:
Ease of use and fluidity from step to step
Cons:
The cost and time frame for disbursement of dunds
Alternatives Considered:
My Business LOVED Using Square Payments to Grow My Business
Comments: I used Square payments mostly for invoicing but I have been on the customer end of it and Loved it.
Pros:
I love how easy it was to use and also affordable. When my business wasn't making much, I could not afford Quickbooks and Square made doing business so much easier.
Cons:
Can not recall anything I didn't like about it. It seems it isn't as comprehensive for business accounting like Quickbooks is.
Using Square to accept payments
Pros:
The ease of use and quick transactions times are a must for our business. We use many volunteers to help with our sales and most either know how to use Square already or are quick to learn because Square makes it VERY easy to navigate transactions.
Cons:
The only con I would say is that Square has a very long list of reports to choose from to gather the information needed for your company's bookkeeping. It sometimes becomes overwhelming as to which report to use or to find the report that you need. That being said, once you navigate the system a few times it becomes much easier to find what you need or are looking for.
Alternatives Considered:
Great for small business owners
Comments: Overall, my experience has been pretty good. It is a bit pricey but you do get a lot of features, even with the free version. I think Square is the best option for a small business who doesn't have a lot of negotiation power with other merchants.
Pros:
Square payments is very easy to use and includes all compliance so you don't have to worry about doing PCI verifications. The ability to invoice clients is great and I love that it will automatically send reminders which saves me time. It integrates wonderfully with my patient charting/scheduling system so that I don't have to switch to the actual square dashboard and can do everything in one program.
Cons:
I really disliked using the contactless card reader. It never had a stable connection to my phone and I was always having to manually enter credit card information (which Square charges more for). I have since purchased a terminal which I love but the hardware was quite pricey.
Square Payment works best for small and medium size businesses
Comments: My overall experience with Square Payments has been quite positive. The setup process is straightforward, making it easy for me to start accepting payments quickly. The interface is intuitive, which simplifies transactions for my customers.
Pros:
What I like most about Square Payments is its user-friendly interface and versatility. It simplifies the payment process for both businesses and customers, allowing for easy transactions whether in-person or online. The integration with other Square tools, like inventory management and analytics, also makes it a comprehensive solution for small businesses. Plus, the transparent pricing structure helps users avoid unexpected fees. Overall, it’s a great option for anyone looking to streamline their payment process!
Cons:
What I like least about Square Payments is I have had issues with customer support, especially during peak times. Additionally, while the pricing is generally transparent, certain fees can be confusing for businesses with specific needs, like international transactions. Finally, the limited customization options for payment. Overall, while it’s a strong tool, these areas could use improvement.
Easy & Convenient
Comments: Truthfully I haven’t given any other companies a chance. I had Square 1st and will never use anything else.
Pros:
I love Square, it’s easy and convenient! The savings account and my automatic savings is another great perk!
Cons:
I currently can’t find a C-type plug-in for card swipe. Although, tap-to-pay is convenient most times.
Easy to use payment system
Pros:
It is easy to use and was easy to set up/show other employees how to use it. Pricing is very clear.
Cons:
It's hard to get in touch with the support team
Square is the new Diamond
Comments: Square helped our non-profit became self-sufficient and collect money in advance.
Pros:
We use square to handle concession sales and online donations as well as tuition fees. The system works great and we upgraded t the Point of Purchase equipment which made the ease of use so much better and error free.
Cons:
Before we switched to the Pint of Sale hardware, every volunteer needed to upload the app to their phone and have a card slider. Now we can have one central unit for all to use.
Great all round product
Comments: Excellent and would recommend. Useful tool that meets all requirements and accepts all main payment cards
Pros:
Ease of use. Well made products. Interaction with SAGE. Intuitive and detailed dashboard.
Cons:
Time it takes to receive payment from customers. Could be quicker
A Business Asset no Matter Your Company Size
Comments: Overall I find Square to be a clean professional and well-respected platform/service.
Pros:
The ease of payment from customer to my bank via Square
Cons:
There is nothing I dislike about this service currently.
Square cash is the best Mobile friendly card to use
Comments: It's been great and the customer service is really helpful as well as the ease of use. I love it
Pros:
It's a accepted wherever visa and MasterCard are accepted
Cons:
Nothing to dislike as of yet and it's been almost 2 years so I don't feel like there is anything to dislike
Decent Solution Payment Processor w/ Some Security Concerns
Pros:
I liked Square payments initially because it was fairly easy to set up, integrated with a lot of the platforms I used, had a fairly quick turnaround time for payouts, and had a few additional features that I thought would be useful in my business as I scaled up.
Cons:
My main issue with Square Payments is security. Several of my accounts were compromised due to some fraudulent activity, I had quite a bit of money stolen, and afterwards I didn't feel super confident that Square had adequate fraud protections in place to keep my money safe moving forward. The fraudsters were able to change my password and thus lock me out of my Square account, switch the payout account from my bank account to theirs, and change the verification phone number. I felt so helpless and personally wondered if they couldn't have done more to make it harder for this happen.
Square payment review
Comments: Overall I love using square for my business and I definitely recommend it
Pros:
I love that square gives you the option to accept payments through cashapp and Apple Pay as well as debit and credit payments
Cons:
The least thing I like is the different fee rates for processing payments
Best payment card system
Comments: Been using this for several years and recommend it everyone
Pros:
It is easy to setup/start using and the fee per use is low
Cons:
If I have to give an answer, it is the reader is small and plugging it into my phone is (the smallest) hassle. If you have the ability for the counter unit, this wouldn't even be an issue
