choose better software
About Everlaw
Everlaw is a cloud-based litigation platform that enables teams to collaboratively discover, reveal, and act on information.
The ease of use of Everlaw is what makes it superior to any other ediscovery software we have used in the past.
I don't like that it loads empty container files and makes them part of the database.

Great alternative to the others for straight-ahead review!
Comments: I like Everlaw. It isn't as powerful a search machine as something like Relativity, but the coding presets and keyboard shortcuts are fast! Also, you can (and I did!) contact support directly through the platform - they are responsive and helpful.
Pros:
Everlaw is built around the pain points of coding documents in older, more established platforms. The coding presets and keyboard shortcuts scream speed and give you a great review flow.
Cons:
This has TOO MANY ISSUE TAGS - from the inbuilt ones to the ones you add, you get oversaturation and tagging for issues becomes meaningless. Also, the search and filter functions are not as robust and somewhat convoluted.
My favorite e-discovery platform
Comments: Fantastic. We love the customer support and flexibility.
Pros:
It is intuitive, customizable, and always updating to include the latest features and tricks. The collaborative tools allow our team to conduct in depth investigations. The customer service is the best of all our service providers.
Cons:
The interface takes a bit getting used to. I wish the storybuilder tool allowed greater variety of formatted documents (e.g., charts and tables)
Aesthetically pleasing User-Interface! Supportive tech team!
Pros:
The UI makes the software easier to learn and the discovery review process less intimidating.
Cons:
The data upload process is almost too easy. We have had former a legal assistant uploading new datasets, and she was doing it incorrectly but didn't realize.

Built around the Pain Points of the Other Guys
Comments: This is good software. Relativity is obviously the big hitter in electronic document review, but this is an agile review software clearly built to address the biggest pain points of the Relativity UI
Pros:
Totally customizable UI, keyboard hotkeys make going through documents an absolute breeze! Customer service/support is super fast and responsive. There's also no automatic timeout of your session.
Cons:
Search functions are kind of finicky using booleans, and the native viewer for MS office documents is very flawed. Spreadsheets often fail to open at all, and larger documents can choke the system. Also, this is hosted within the Everlaw infastructure and unlike Relativity, cannot be self hosted.
Everlaw Is The Best
Pros:
It is user friendly and intuitive. Once you have the basics down, it is very easy to expand on to more complex items.
Cons:
Nothing - I love it. It is superior to any other product I have used.
Everlaw Makes Doc Review Fun
Comments: Everlaw helps organize documents not just in terms of their importance to the case or responsiveness to discovery, but helps you tell your client's story well.
Pros:
By far the best quality of Everlaw is that it makes doc review about as fun as it can be. The smooth interface and the depth of keyboard shortcuts in your review window make it easy to code your docs in a way that almost feels fun.
Cons:
The biggest drawback of Everlaw is the expense. $30/GB/month is incredibly expensive for clients, particularly on bigger e-discovery cases. In fact, it's usually cost-prohibitive. It seems Everlaw would be better off lowering the pricing to increase its overall revenues, especially because the cost of storage doesn't come close to approaching $30/GB/month.
Very easy to use and adaptable to the individual user
Comments: Customer Service responds with very detailed instructions for all service requests within an hour, even on the weekends and late at night.
Pros:
That it is so easy to customize for quick review based on unique work-style.
Cons:
For hit highlights, to see where specific terms are contained within the document, it is only possible to see hits in the Text view, not Image, and sometimes it can be difficult to go between text and image to find hits for search terms. But it is not a significant issue.
First 6 Months
Pros:
Once you learn the functions that Everlaw provides, it is invaluable at helping to sort and manage records.
Cons:
You really have to learn the intricacies of the software and things are not necessarily intuitive. But when I had to do a big project and really get the help of customer support, I learned the software and became much more comfortable with it. I expect future projects will be much easier as a result.
Amazing, highly professional document management platform
Pros:
Hands down, the best features were: 1) provision of the platform free-of-charge for non-profit humanitarian organizations, and 2) excellent customer service to iron out technical challenges. We also found the general features - keyword search, translation, commenting/notes, and document management/organization to be very user friendly.
Cons:
It was sometimes confusing and difficult to switch between analytical screens and the documents themselves. Our partners in Sierra Leone found it difficult to access the platform due to bandwidth issues.
Almost perfect
Pros:
Everlaw is very intuitive and easy to teach new users how to use. Attorneys love using the Storybuilder feature to create a chronological timeline for the case and to prep for depositions. Another major draw to Everlaw is independence. If there needs to be a production made, we don't have to reach out to a vendor for them to run it. We don't need to tell a vendor what tags to create or the search terms needed to create review batches. With the ECA database, Everlaw is also a pretty cost-conscious option and clients appreciate it.
Cons:
There are only a couple of major issues that can cause some hair pulling- One is deduplicating. Identifying and culling duplicates is not always easy and can be rather convoluted. It is also frustrating being unable to search for near-dupes. I hope upgrading their deduplication features and search functions is high on their list. Another issue is versioning. When a document is produced, it creates a whole new document separate from the native. This becomes very clunky and also can cause an issue when trying to keep costs low. It would be much easier if, instead of creating a whole new document, it would create another tab in the review window that would be called "produced" or something along those lines. This also incurs a higher fee. We will use the ECA feature, promote documents for review and production, migrate the work product to the produced document, and then demote the original documents to the ECA database to save on hosting fees. After a production is run, the review project now has 2 of every document produced. If I was running a production on 1GB of data and the resulting production took up 1.5GB, even if I demote the original documents right after the production, we are still billed for 2.5GB even though the originals were only on the review side for maybe an hour after they were produced. This can be very cost heavy when 40GB productions are run.
You can teach an old dog new tricks!
Comments: Everlaw has helped our staff and firm finally enter the "new age" of electronic discovery. At a time when we have multiples cases in the tens of thousands of document and some in the hundred thousands, we have increased our productivity using less time and resources to complete document review, prepare for depositions and trial and the manner in which we collect documents from clients. I still have a lot to learn, but don't know how we ever did without Everlaw!
Pros:
The ability to word search, organize and organize documents by topic, sender, receiver, etc without having to review hard copies or just PDFs multiple times to review the same documents for each search.
Cons:
Haven't found anything I do not like yet.
Everlaw Review
Comments: Very useful and intuitive. Easy to learn and use.
Pros:
Easy to search and mark large documents sets. Very intuitive
Cons:
Small learning curve, but not as bad as I would have expected
Everlaw for Legal Pros
Pros:
Everlaw is a key part of our legal practice when it comes to document review, production, deposition, hearing and trial preparation. The ingestion of files for review is easy and automatically extracts metadata and text for keyword/term searches. Large batch coding is simple. Metadata panel can be viewed at the same time as the document when extending to multiple screens. Set-up of production protocols is not complicated which is makes for quick turn-round on generating production sets. When working with large volumes of native data, like emails, the extraction of metadata allows sorting using various search parameters (date, author, subject....). Everlaw also has the ability to ingest pdf production files that are Bates endorsed but not provided with load files. Support, if needed, is responsive and helpful if you need to call; Everlaw also provides training videos that can be accessed any time for basic step-by-step processes. Overall, Everlaw has many functions and features that efficiently support the entire litigation process all the way through trial.
Cons:
The migration from previous eDiscovery software to Everlaw, as with any migration, was not seamless and requires some technical support and organization on the part of a document manager to manage the migrated sets of documents.
Everlaw is one of the best document review platforms.
Pros:
The Everlaw platform is extremely easy to use and has a pleasing layout. I use Everlaw almost daily for document production and trial preparation. Its binder function allows me to easily find and organize like documents, and it has very robust search functionality. You can have multiple search criteria, including codes, metadata, and content searches. You can also have proximity searches or fuzzy searches if you don't know the exact words used. Plus, Everlaw provides search results almost instantaneously. Everlaw's support staff are also very helpful and responsive. If you have a question about the system, they respond quickly and do not charge extra for their customer service. They also upload documents for you if needed. But the upload feature is likewise easy to use, so I routinely do uploads myself.
Cons:
I wish there was the ability to share multiple binders at one time. I frequently segregate documents into binders for trial prep, and it would be nice to be able to share all of them at once with the rest of the trial team.
Long time satisfied user.
Comments: I have been the administrator on multiple legacy platforms and when I transitioned to Everlaw it was freedom from cumbersome and archaic technology. The incredible cost savings, fine administrative control of the entire platform are exactly what our firm needed. Everlaw's customer service/success is excellent and partnering with them on a business level is easy.
Pros:
Easy ti use and most of all easy to teach. Can quickly get users up to speed and reviewing documents effectively.
Cons:
It's a little difficult transitioning users away from the legacy platforms and getting their heads wrapped around the search tool.
Alternatives Considered:
Everlaw is AWESOM
Comments: I have been in e-discovery for over 15 years and this, in my opinion, is the best tool....hands down. Please continue to develop and build out this wonderful platform
Pros:
I most like the layout and how user intuitive the tool is for use.
Cons:
Some features could be expanded more....like sharing exports with other users more easily. I also don't like that certification passage requires a 100% score. That is a bit unrealistic and doesn't aid in learning, but encourages "memorizing for the test".
Everlaw saves law firms time and clients money!
Comments: The business problems we are solving with Everlaw is that it saves law firms time and clients money!
Pros:
The most impactful features are the document storage for review and discovery purposes.
Cons:
I cannot think of one thing that I don't like about Everlaw.
Great E-Disclosure Software
Comments: I had great experience with Everlaw and would totally recommend it.
Pros:
The best thing about this software is the speed and interface.
Cons:
The least thing I like about this software is that you can't copy assignment group review criteria.
Everlaw is a Godsend
Comments: I love everyone at Everlaw. They are very helpful and quick to respond. The only downside is the hours for getting assistance. Weekends and earlier hours would be helpful.
Pros:
The ease of use which has allowed me to get more buy in from my more mature attorneys, the searching abilities, the ease of production . . . lets be honest, there isn't much I don't like about Everlaw.
Cons:
I would like to see a feature to be able to do page and line summaries to deposition transcripts, the ability to do deposition designations, and the ability to issue code the depositions and provide reports for all of these functions.
Everlaw Review
Pros:
Graphic interface, everything is very easy to follow visually. Logic searches are very easy to create.
Cons:
It is can be a bit expensive. However, once you utilize its full potential, it is worth what is paid to use the tools.
Pretty robust web-based discovery review platform
Comments: Discovery review for investigative targets' and litigation opponents' important docs
Pros:
Web-based and very intuitive; good training materials
Cons:
Training materials could be organized better to meet users' experience levels and use profiles
Streamlined Data Review
Pros:
Everlaw is faster and has a friendlier user interface than Relativity.
Cons:
There are certain features that do not exist that may be helpful in the context of a larger document review. Being able to save over existing searches rather than creating a new search every time a condition changes, for instance.
Everlaw
Comments: We have been able to upload and search large amounts of data in a relatively short amount of time.
Pros:
Easy to share searches and binders. Configuring, tracking and sharing production sets from within the tool is very good.
Cons:
The order of operations in search feature is not intuitive, especially when trying to include family members, but exclude certain coded documents.
User Friendly
Comments: I like it better than the previous program I've used.
Pros:
Very easy to use and easily access documents.
Cons:
Logs me out too soon but that's not a huge deal. Easy to log into.
user-friendly
Pros:
intuitive and user-friendly for searches, Binders are a great tool for collecting documents
Cons:
would prefer if search results could be sorted by doc type icon
